Has anyone else noticed occasional trouble on your first to second shift? I've had my Cat 16 days and at least 5 times now when making the first to second shift, while taking it easy, the trans jams in no gear. I then return to neutral and either go back to first or up to third.

You are probably getting hit with the skip shift feature. Basically if you are traveling at a low speed in 1st gear, it will force you to shift into 4th rather than 2nd (unless you wait for a little bit, then it will allow 2nd gear). You can either get s skip shift eliminator, or drive faster while in 1st gear before shifting. I believe skipshift turns off at 20 MPH.

I have a manual transmission, but have never run into this as being an issue. For those it impacts though, getting the eliminator is the way to go.

Owners manual pg 352 explains it thusly:

There are times when you must shift the transmission

directly from first gear to fourth gear instead of from first

gear to second gear. This is to help you get the best

possible fuel economy from your vehicle. This occurs

when the engine coolant (antifreeze) is higher than 106°F

(41°C), vehicle speed is greater than 19 mph (30 km/h)

but less than 21 mph (34 km/h), and the transmission is

in first gear, and the accelerator is at ¼ throttle or less.

After you shift the transmission to fourth gear, you can

press the clutch in and shift to another forward gear.

Much thanks to everyone giving me some great advice on the goofy skip shift issue. I did more research and found a company who sells a device you install into the transmission wiring to eliminate the skip shift. For just $23 with shipping! Here is the link. Speedlogix Skip Shift Eliminator 09-15 Challenger

I spoke with DiablioSports today. The "skip shift" feature is turned off in their tune. It is NOT a option within custom settings. I've reached out to Johan to confirm in his tunes; if this is something he does as well.

Skip Shift technology has been around for some years now... Vettes have it, Camaros have it, my 2010 Challenger has it etc. In the case of my Camaro and the Hellcat... I had the dealer install the skip shift eliminator before I even picked the car up. Only had to suffer with it for a short while back in 2010 with my Challenger R/T and said... NEVER AGAIN! LOL

Im not so sure about the best possible fuel economy. Since when is 19 mph in 4th gear economical? I got my cat in July and missed 2nd leaving the lot. Turned right around and spoke with the dealer mechanics. They basically had no idea what I was talking about but offered to pull the trani...(I passsed on the offer) I have since put 10K on the car and here's what I know. 19 mph is definitely the trigger point. I can go 1st to 2nd at 18 mph or 21 mph, everything works smooth as glass. When it blocks 2nd at 19 mph and you wait I believe it only allows 2nd because your speed drops below 19 mph. If you go to fourth you can only go back to third, 2nd is still blocked if your speed has not changed. I stopped by a transmission re-builder and they felt the skip shift might be faulty. I have also been told if you install an eliminator you void the warranty. I have not found a relationship to RPM but if throttle position is a factor Ill play around some more. It'll have to wait till spring, Cats been put away for the winter.

The skip shift eliminator is just a small pigtail you plug into the harness on the side of the trans. If you need to take your Cat in for warranty work you remove it. Problem solved.
