Manual won't go into gear!

    I have had an issue with my manual not going into gear about 5 times over the past 2 months at various times. Right now, I have 700 miles on it. My wife said she experienced it once when she was driving it. The most recent occurred when I was pulling up to a light. It had been in 3rd. Put the clutch in to go into first and it seems like the gate is blocked. Same with all of the gears. I did not try to force it and do damage. It did finally go into 3rd so I could get out of the intersection. I pulled over, turned the car off, and then it went into all of the gears. Started back up and shifted fine. Anyone else have or heard of a similar problem?

    Sounds like the skip shift mechanism on the M6. For fuel savings reasons, the transmission sometimes wants you to go to fourth gear instead of 2nd.
    Many of us have installed a skip shift eliminator on our M6's. Does this sound like the issue you are having? Low rpm, shifting to second?

    If he is trying to shift to first from 3rd gear, it's not the skip shift blocking him...

    May be a little air in the slave/throw out preventing the clutch from totally disengaging

    The Hellcat has a skip shift feature? I guess I need to read my owners manual again. I've never felt this on my car.

    how fast were you rolling when tryin to slip it back into first? they dont like going into first when you have some speed up

    You'll probably first notice it when your in the middle of a busy intersection (8 lanes) and trying to find a gear, any gear. LOL

    Did you double clutch and it still didn't go? Either you are not engaing the cutch all the way or there is a problem. 3rd to 1st I have done many times (at low speeds) when I have just was driving easy coming to a light and it changed prior to stopping. HAVE IT checked.

    I almost want to say there is a solenoid that probably blocks out 1st when going over a certain speed. To help avoid issues. Kind of like how reverse is locked out too. Don't wanna hit reverse instead of 5th. Dont want to think your going into 3rd and slip past and hit 1st doing 70. Im guessing the car just blocks you out due to your speed.

    HIGHLY doubt it - the protection is the rev limiter. 1st gear is a forward gear - I've missed 3rd and hit first, no blocking.

    I took it to the dealership and they were able to replicate the problem. After looking at all aspects of the transmission and having the Chrysler engineer look at it, they replaced the transmission under warranty. They said something was off in the gears and not lining up. And now the skip shift actually works as intended as do the other gears. Thank you all for your suggestions.

    Cool glad that fixed it... just curious how long did it take to get the new trans in and installed? Looks like this thread stretched out so it was hard to tell?

    It took a while for me to decide where to take it. I talked to several dealers and then my dealer received a recommendation from the Chrysler rep on where to take it. So I finally dropped it off on Monday, October 26. Their Viper/Hellcat tech evaluated it and received authorization to replace it by Thursday afternoon. Took 4 days to get it in and a day to install. Ready Tuesday and I picked it up the next day, November 4.
