Sorry, his sharply ramped up CAFE standards are already in place and due to be phased in. Our only hope is ultra-efficient electrics and hybrids (to counteract and bring down the average), of which Chrysler has shown no interest in producing.

That's the same guy that would really prefer none of us to have a firearm to protect ourselves with even though he has a well armed security detail every where he goes and will for the rest of his life.

So my guess is that he's smart enough to have a "hot rod V8" but the rest of us mere mortals and common
folks aren't smart enough or good enough to have one.

If he could increase the CAFE standards even faster he would. I am sort of expecting more "executive actions" around CAFE before he leaves office because of that stupid Paris agreement.

ppowell1983. I bet you're right. I know the agreement (not completely clear if it's even binding or not) but it
didn't dawn on me that it may effect our gas and diesel cars and trucks. I was thinking more of power plants
and heavy industry. It could effect our cars.

This president will take 5 jets minimum everywhere he goes, and because it might inconvenience the 1st lady by waiting a few hours she takes her own 737 private plain. They don't care about the environment, they care about control. If a government regulator has to approve everything, that means more democrats employed, (after 2010 and 2014, theres at least 1,000 of them in the unemployment line) and more bribes (I mean donations) for the politicians.

He has a sign in his office that says, "Stalin was a pussy". Working with his puppet attorney general to run more executive actions up our ass since Congress stumbled into a clue regarding second amendment. Funny how the climate control czar never visits Texas...open carry never sounded so good.

CAFE standards are regulatory in nature, and can be rescinded by any future President. Or if the US auto industry collapses putting over 1Million registered voters on the street.

The end is near. There is no doubt. We have 12-24 months at the most.

A future EPA could lower the CAFE standards but that would be highly unlikely. Also, given the fact that the Auto makers have been preparing for these new standards over the past 5 years, the product transitions are already done.

My prediction is that Ford will be the first to announce the death of the V8 in their product lines....

Not a fan of him either, but there is something ironic about the whole thing ..... Back around 2009, if another was in office, he likely would of saved GM but let Chrysler go away. So that decision is what saved the company to go on to build our Hellcats. Now I hope with the cheap gas they will ease their crazy CAFE standards as the savings is no longer there to offset the cost of the technology needed to meet it and it will make cars go up about 8 grand. That's not something the average consumer can afford nor tolerate.

Something else funny. Obama's car just before office was a 300c Hemi. So I don't believe he 'really' is the environmentalist that he tries to pretend he is. That means there is big money to be made with the restrictions and thats why the ones who really are in control want it. IMHO of course.
