Ok, so I bought the car as my daily driver as I dont go far (normally).

Anyway the insurance companies want to insure this car as a hobby car with a 5k limit per year. I managed to push to 8k which I thought was good as my LR Discovery I only averaged 9k per year for last few years as I also have another car and a van.

But the problem.... I have done 1200 miles in 19 days in the cat as I love driving it soooo much.

What can I do? I will hit 8k in no time, would I be able to take out a new insurance policy with another company and get another 8k of miles? IE say I hit 8k miles in 6 months time, then I just cancel off my current policy and take a fresh policy with another company?

Worried I will have to park the cat up and start driving my van more :(

What insurance deals have other UK guys got?

You might try Barret Jackson insurance, not sure who the underwriter is, But I think they may have unlimited mileage policy's.

I just listed mine as secondary vehicle, which it is. I gave them a figure of about 8k a year. I really don't think they're going to check

Yeah in UK these type of cars are classed as "Enthusiasts" cars and not generally for every day use. In the US as they are standard vehicles most policies will be fine over there. Thanks for the advice though :)

My insurance company gave me 6000 miles per year with full coverage $500 deductible for $253 per year. I have several other vehicles to drive and car is not driven for 4 months of winter weather. But I also find it addicting to drive and will probably go over the mileage allotment.

I agree that it seemed way too cheap but I paid the bill and have the insurance card. This company also has all my business insurance and personal insurance at great rates.

Mine is $631 a year. Large differences in rates are usually the result of limits to the amount the insurance company will pay. To compare rates you need to keep in mind the apples to oranges thing.....

OP why don't you just ask your insurance agent about the mileage?

I just got a letter "Notice of Cancellation or Refusal to Renew" and "The vehicle is not eligible for coverage due to the fact it is a high performance vehicle"

Looks like i'll be calling around next week.
