Finally got my Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires mounted on the rear today. Looks great, fits great.

I've got about 1" of clearance to the plastic wheel liner on one side and about 1/4" on the other. I'm not worried about it since the liner is so soft and thin and the way it would rub if it ever did wouldn't do any damage to anything. That said, I'll tweak things slightly the next time I put the car in the air. 20150410_171427.jpg 20150410_123519.jpg

Looks good! How's the difference in traction? Have you had a chance to get on it with the new tires yet?

Dealer overinflated them to 40 psi and traction was pathetic. I let some air out down to 32 psi and they're better but I haven't had a chance to really test them. Maybe I'll get some time to wreak havoc on the neighborhood tonight.

If you get a little time tonight to do some damage, just keep the evil genius laughter down to a giggle..........you don't want to tip the competition off too soon!;)

Those look great. Let us know how you like them. Cooper gives you a LOT of tire for the money.

I run my OE Pirelli's at 39 PSI cold. I like them hard... No issues with traction on the street either.

I emailed Cooper and asked them to come out with the RS3-A in the same sizes. The RS3-A is the all season version o fthe RS3-S and it's also a winner tire!

Yes, stock tires remain on front.

    Ok...UPDATE:
I did probably 15 practice 0-60s last night. The Coopers were at 34 psi. Traction was sad at best. These absolutely do not compare to the factory tires for off the line traction.

I did the first 10 or so runs on blacktop. I tried both 1st and 2nd gear starts. The best I could get was 4.9! Terrible traction. Rolling onto the throttle gently didnt allow WOT even at 40 mph.

Then I tried a nice strip of concrete and actually did better. That was a surprise. Best on concrete was 4.5.

Compared to my best on factory tires of 4.1 (at 35 psi) these Coopers are noticably less grippy. Those 4 tenths are very noticable when trying to find traction.

So far I'm very disappointed in these tires. I plan to air them down to 28 psi next and try again. I can't imagine running them any lower than that as a daily driver.

I was really hoping to have stumbled onto a much cheaper tire solution for the 'cat. Oh well, I may be stuck with $500 tires after all. DR's are a little cheaper but won't last as long so they'll actually be even more expensive...and bad in the rain.

Hopefully I'll get to test the Coopers at 28 psi tonight.

So far, the Nitto 555R in 275/40/20 and 305/35/20 seem to be providing the best, improved traction over the stock Pirelli's based on user feedback and test articles.

The stock Pirelli's, given their speed rating, traction and sizing are actually not that bad.

Interesting... Keep us informed. They are brand new so getting a few miles on them to wear off the mold release etc. might help.

Let us know as you get more miles. I hope they improve. I really like those tires and I've had good luck with them in the past (but I wasn't drag racing with them either).
