Looking into wrapping the Hellcat hood and want input from those that have done it and how it has held up over the Summer with the heat produced by the engine? Please share your experience and what type of wrap product you used. I am considering a high gloss, not matte finish. Thanks

Used Avery satin black for hood. It stood up well outside (not in garage) in Florida direct sun light (so far), but am considering that I will probably need a "redo" in three years.

Shop owner advised me against matte black, saying the satin black better displays contours. I took his advice and am very pleased.
I believe you will find that high gloss masks the contours that are so characteristic to the Hellcat hood.

I did with the 3m matte carbon fiber and I love the look. And the texture. But it's bunching up around the top corners of the center scoop. He probably should have wrapped it around the edge. It looks good tho.

Tammie, why wouldn't you use the same color/texture that the bumblebee stripe is?

Avery satin black. Car is not in the sun much due to being garage kept. I have some slight wrinkling around the center scoop edges likely due to engine heat, no issues around vent scoop. The wrap company told me to bring it back and they would redo it. It doesn't bother me enough to get it done again.

We both have Avery Satin Black, and my car is outside 85% of the time. Mine is holding up well. :) It will need to be redone at some point though.

Did mine in 3M Carbon, the car is garaged, no reaction to dissipating heat. Contours pop, the texture begs one to trace touch. image.jpg

Ive had 2 hood wraps done on my M6. Cost me $515 due to limit vendors here. 1 wrap job was ok but had many bubbles and lots of crinkling around the vents. So i had them redo it. No air bubbles but again after a few months the wrinkles and crinkles showed up again around the scoop and vents. When i bought my A8 i said to hell with it and had it painted. Way better in my opinion. I wont have to worry about wrinkles. I paid $525 for it to be painted top and bottom. Done in a day. Also sounds more custom saying its painted and not just a big sticker.

    Tammie:

I had mine done with 3M matte in early May. It looks as good now as the day it was installed. I'd be surprised if you are not pleased with the look. I think Michigan and Washington weather has a lot of similarities if you're worried about the weathering issue. Show us some pics when you get it done!
