I've got a 2015 Hellcat Challenger and looking for a suggestion on a good rear wheel/tire combo that will be dedicated for the track, so it doesn't need to be DOT legal.

I understand the OEM wheels are 20x9.5 with +18 offset, however I'm not sure what aftermarket wheel/tire combo to run. Preferably a 305 tire (or 315). I come from a road course background not drag racing, so I'm looking for pointers. It looks like for a dedicated drag (non DOT) wheel/tire I need to go down in wheel size?

Check with Top Cat on what he's running.
Imo you'll be better off going to a 17" or 18" on the rear to take advantage of the taller sidewall height/flex.
Top Cat can advise you on what should fit.

Weld 18X10 wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street "R" 305/45/18......make sure you upgrade the drive shaft to the DSS alum or carbon fiber or the DRs will turn the OEM drive shaft into a pretzel....

There is a lot of posts on this. I believe for a inexpensive set of rears for track days search the Bravado wheels with MTs available from Summit Racing. They even post links. That's going to be my race day set up until I have a set of Triumph Wheels with Nitto 555rs

And now the axels it appears to which is why DSS is working on that too. Especially needed if you change pulleys tune etc to put 800+ to the MT rears.

17x9 Mustang FR500 wheels with a 5.9" backspace. 28/10/17 Hoosier slicks. Less than $700 all in. Good enough for my otherwise stock Hellcat to run 10.62 @ 130.9...

Wheel Replicas for the wheels, or just Google Mustang FR500 wheels...

    Summit for the slicks

If you want the absolute best times and to be safe here is what I suggest. Weld RTS S71B rim in a 17X8 +18mm offset 5X115 Bolt Pattern with a Hoosier 10X28 drag slick. If those rims do not come hubcentric, I would get hub centering rings. This is LIGHT and SAFE and will be the fastest setup since it will also gear you down a little as well. Check for sway bar and shock wire interference.

If you want a 305 or 315 drag radial (which you COULD drive on the street if you want), then I suggest a Weld RTS S71B in a 18X10 with +28mm offset and a Mickey Thompson ET Street R in a 305/45R18. Get hub centering rings and you will probably need to get the HHP short sway bar links. Alternately I would choose an ET Street S/S 305/40R18. With these you will probably need to do my wheel tub mod and relocate your shock control wires. 315 tires will probably rub on the inner side of the wheel tub and are not necessary. Either way you may need to carefully heat and take some of the bulges out of the wheel tub to prevent rubbing.
A less safe alternative, but way cheaper would be the Bravado Tribute wheel in a 18X10 +20mm offset. This wheel should only be used for drag racing and not any hard cornering. Sticky tires and hard cornering de-rate a wheel substantially. Normal street driving should be ok (nothing crazy). I would not use the Bravado Wheel if you are planning on modifying your Hellcat.

    Tire/wheel sins are:
choosing a wheel that is not strong enough.
choosing a wheel that has the wrong bolt pattern (IE: Ford wheels), no matter how close it is to being correct.
choosing a wheel that is not hub centric
Choosing a wheel/tire that is bigger/heavier than needed (will slow you down)
Choosing a wheel that is not the correct offset because it is cheap etc.

After thinking about it, I'm not looking to screw up the driveshaft and/or axles. So on the stock wheels what is the best size tire that will fit? I'm very hesitant to go with a 305 since the wheel is so narrow at 9.5" and unfortunately it looks like the options of a decent tire are fairly limited. MT ET Street S/S 275's look like they might be the best option, ahead of Nitto 555R.

There are a lot of Cats running 305-35-20 on the stock 9.5 wheels with no issues. They look fine as well... if you put any good DR on you will need to upgrade the DS. It's not will it fail... but when! ;)
