My tires were nitrogen filled when I picked up my new HC. They were pumped up to 49/50 psi and I know that's for shipping. The sales manager told me they are nitrogen filled from the factory? I don't know that I believe that but is there any down side to nitrogen filled tires? I hate those green valve caps!

Wrong, I own every MOPAR FRICKING FCA product and not a one has the RIP OFF nitrous. And no personal shaming to u, but it's a sales pitch and just another profit center for aftermarket add ins. And they may not have charged u. But technically when ur tires adjust to outside temps (which ur tires will) u r supposed to add only nitrous. I have had the nitrous in my previous Toyota vehicles (which came from the dealer) and everyone of them would loose tire pressure in the colder months. And yeah for any or all nitrous fans great but u still have tire pressure variation, and maybe the nitrous is a little bit more stable but u still have to add air or nitrous. And for the record the big jets use nitrous in their tires due to the extreme cold tire pressure (from being at high altitudes) to landing at over a 100 mph and stopping the plane. Which in this case the tire sees extreme tire pressure and temps instantly which is what the nitrous does to keep it more stable.

Nitrous goes into the intake. Nitrogen is for tires.

if you have access to nitrogen and wont have a problem when your tire pressure light comes on then it's no biggie.

me personally, i'd use normal air since you can get it at any gas station.

Thanks for the responses. They did not charge me extra for nitrogen. It sounds like it's a good thing for maintaining tire pressure. I guess it doesn't hurt to add air to nitrogen to adjust your tire pressure.

Just a little science lesson, Air = 78% Nitrogen 02 20% and a tiny bit of Argon. Not really a big deal and should never pay money for it. Change my caps to black as soon as I got my car. those N2 caps were awful. Just FYI, my buddy runs a wrecker service and really does us a Nitrous bottle to fill car tires. 1 bottle can fill 5x more tires due to its high pressure in the bottle. But correct you dont normally run Nitrous in your tires.

Bear in mind that N2 (nitrogen) and N2O (nitrous) are two different chemicals.

The green caps match our Sublime. ;)
Other than that, there is not much difference from a practical point of view. I guess that if the car was up on jack stands, in long term storage, nitrogen would be optimal. Other than that, atmospheric air stabilizes relatively quickly, and the positive effect of "pure" nitrogen is negligible.

    Perhaps for bragging rights??:confused:o_O:D
