The ordering process for the new Ford GT was announced by Raj Nair this morning at the annual Ford GT Rally.

    2016 Ford GT Program Update
    SUMMARY
The purpose of this communication[IMG] is to provide dealers with new information on the Ford GT program and establish timing expectations for the ordering process.

    Ford GT Program Update
Raj Nair, Ford’s Global Director of Product Development will be making the following announcement to a gathering of Ford GT owners on Thursday, August 27, 2015:

Ford will introduce a unique ordering process for the all-new Ford GT supercar, with the program commencing in early 2016.
Ford GTs will be assigned based on a customer application process, offering a personalized experience for every Ford GT buyer.
Anyone can apply; priority will be given to loyal Ford customers including current Ford GT owners.
Applicants selected through the process will be assigned a car by Ford and complete their purchase[IMG] through a Ford GT certified dealership[IMG] of their choice.

    Additional Information for Dealers

The Ford GT customer application process will begin in early 2016. Details on the application process will be provided closer to the application process start date.
Ford dealers will be able to opt-in and certify to sell the Ford GT. Details on the sales certification requirements will be communicated later this year.
A separate process will be established for Ford Dealership owners who wish to register and own a new Ford GT.
Limited production, high cost materials/parts and unique technologies will require unique factory-sponsored processes and resources[IMG] to support customers and dealers. A separate service opt-in and certification process will be communicated in Q2/Q3 2016.
We recommend that dealers refrain from taking customer deposits.
As we continue to develop and refine the unique customer selection, allocation, and distribution processes for this extremely low-volume supercar, we will keep dealers fully informed.

Key Ford GT Product/Program Information (previously announced)

The Ford GT is an exciting demonstration of Ford’s capabilities and our culture of innovation & passion[IMG].
Ford Performance will begin racing the new Ford GT in 2016 in both the Tudor/IMSA and WEC road car[IMG] racing series including a return to LeMans 50 years after the GT40 program’s historic 1-2-3 finish in 1966.
Production of the Ford GT road car will begin in late 2016 at[IMG] dedicated facility in Markham, Ontario; global volume will be 250 vehicles per year.
The all-new Ford GT will be priced to compete with exotic sports cars[IMG] including Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren.
    Key vehicle[IMG] specs:
Lightweight construction - 100% carbon fiber body panels[IMG] and passenger cell
Aerodynamic design and active features including speed-activated deployable rear wing
    3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine producing over 600hp

The key takeaway is that there will be no ADMs.* The cars, for the first time ever in Ford's history, will be sold by Ford to the end user Customer.* Dealers will only be involved for the delivery[IMG] process.* Customers will work will work directly with Ford during the ordering process.* *While not stated, it is expected that some dealership cooperation will be needed - ie, I'd be a little dealer in Alliance Nebraska isn't going to be willing to accept delivery (and be part of the service program) but basically dealers won't own the car and be able to mark them up.* It is even stated in the written release that a separate program will be forthcoming for DEALER OWNERS who want to BUY a car.

Dealers are once again admonished from taking deposits.* How can they?* They don't get the car except to prepare it for the customer who bought it.

I transferred this from another Shelby site.

It says "purchase" process is the dealer.

We'll see about adm where dealers opt into sell and how that pans out.

As far as order and ordering availability and allocation good for them.

250 cars per year (global) a tailored process is easier. Those that can afford one probably pay someone else to deal with it I would.

Out of my price range. Super car though. I'm not sure I fully understand the process, but it sounds like they want a infrastructure to work on these special cars. If the price point is 400K, and you could afford it, would a ADM even matter you as the buyer?

Ford backwards is Driver Returned On Foot! But, that is really smart of them to prevent ADM, even if the car is over 250k!

this is a good move, with ford hopping along the bandwagon with tesla we can start getting rid of this shit dealership game. 2015 shouldn't have middlemen anymore, I mean seriously capitalism thrives on making money or what the consumer wants right? Well guess what, consumers don't want dealers anymore. We can make educated decisions online and manufacturers have the capability of training and owning their own stores.

To quote another user on this forum, "...snake oil...". It's all about the application process. Sure, the unclean and the un washed (a.k.a., non Ford owners and Ford owners who don't currently have or have had a GT) can apply until the cows come home, but their applications will NOT make the "cut". Those folks will have take what they get, if at all, and like it. Sounds very socialistic to me now that I've lived under socialism since the messiah took office.

At the very end of production on the last GT they could not sell them, it took a while before things turned around and now that market doubled in price, I would expect the same on this new GT as 400K is four times what the first GT went for.
