Hey guys I am a new HC owner and have already gotten the mod bug. I have been doing some reseach on what mods I want to do. I have read that long tubes are not producing any gains? Do the factory shorties really do that good a job that nothing is to be gained from longtubes? Anybody with real experience on the matter? I will be doing 2.85 upper and 10% od lower with injectors.
    Thanks

With those mods you will be fine on stock headers. I have yet to see gains from any aftermarket headers and their aren't many options out there to begin with. I guess the factory design is pretty darn good. I know my ZL1 picked up 25whp with headers after similar mods your looking at but I have seen no data showing the hellcat picks up any real gains...

Welcome to the site.....based on experience from some of the quickest HCs on the forum long tubes add little to no power...in fact some experienced slower ETs...

The stock headers are a little bit longer than typical shorties.

Thanks for the info everyone. I would like to do some mods in the near future, but headers do not sound like the place to start. Back tires with more bite will probably be first for me, then go for pulley change next, then....

Don't forget to consider upgrading the driveshaft before getting too much tire grip

Long tubes will help get the heat out . Net gain would be with the tuner. 20-30 would be expected.

This is what I have always experienced with most cars I modded. Not what I am hearing from many with this car though.

If you watch some of the cutaway hellcat engine videos with the engineers on this forum you can see the factory manifold is a great design compared to most oem applications. Each cylinder has its own tube into the shorty style collector but it's actually a bit longer than most aftermarket shorty designs. I'm sure there will be an aftermarket header setup at some point to show some gain, but currently the flow of factory manifold seems to not be any sort of a restriction...
