Okay, so first let me say that I am one of those guys who uses his Hellcat as a daily driver for the warmer seasons of Colorado (ducks rocks and old veggies thrown at him.) I know that may not be a popular thing to do, but I bought the car to drive it and to enjoy it. That being said, as I have been driving it to and from work the last week or two I have noticed the water temp regularly finds itself above the halfway mark on the gauge (215F I think.) Now I haven't had any signs of overheating or anything, but I am kind of concerned since it is barely getting warm here right now, I think the hottest it has been when I drove the 'Cat so far is around 70F. I am truly worried about what it is going to do when the temps here hit the mid to high 90's and I am sitting in commuter traffic.

What is the normal operating temperature supposed to be? Is the temperature consistently rising a bit above the halfway mark on the gauge okay as long as the fans are kicking in? Since I live in a climate capable of seeing temps in the high 90's to even the low 100's should I consider swapping out to a 180 degree thermostat?

Sorry for all the questions, but the last thing I want is to kill my 'Cat or see her overheat in gridlock. Thanks in advance for the helpful feedback!

Thermostat doesn't fully open until 216 and cooling fan doesn't come on till 214 I heard so it's sounds right. I have a 180 t-stat but no car yet, it may help but the fan still isn't coming on sooner. I will have a bypass for the fan hooked up as soon as I get it home and figure out which 2 wires. I have this already on my hemi charger

When I first drove my hellcat challenger the temp outside was 45 degrees and the car temp was 221 degrees. At 221 degrees the fan turns on and the temp drops to 214. I'd does that all the time now.

Yep, all good. I am in the same boat and I asked DrBuick about it because my temp gauge is commonly just over half way mark. The supercharger fan kicks on when it gets warm. I will keep an eye on it as the weather gets warmer because I am also concerned that the sc fan might kick on quite a bit in Summer and not sure that will be good for it.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I have nightmares, like for real, about my Hellcat overheating or getting hit in commuter traffic lol. My wife asked if I ever had dreams where I was worried about her getting hurt like I do my 'Cat......I lied and said yes. :D

stat doesn't start to open until 203....fan come about 219F and being PMW will run pretty much as hard as need to bring temps down.

Live in Southern California and have had 90 degree plus days, all seems good here. It will be 100 plus in summer, guess I'll know better soon!

If you aren't having any issues then the rest of us should be fine. Good to know. Thanks for that!

This sounds right on the money as mine will get up to 219 and then quickly start to cool down from what I've observed while driving. Next time I get there I'm going to pop the hood and check to make sure the fan is on!

My sc fan is loud. I can hear it clearly when it kicks in.
