Placed one order with a very small dealer, rural small town, good friend. We had no idea if we would ever see a Charger Hellcat,,,,,,,, well, now in status KZ, waiting on the train.

Agree, responses should be interesting. Needless to say, I place one order only and followed it through. I was fortunate enough to have mine built and delivered :).

The multiple order mess is the consumers fault. There is no way dealers know if you have 2+ orders in at other dealers.

Do you go to multiple bakeries in your town and order the same cake to see who can make it and get it to you fast enough, then take the first one and forget the rest? Don't say it's not the same, because if they do produce most of the orders in the system, there will probably be hundreds of cars that they pushed to make that weren't necessary at the time.

I agree with Rule #4 regarding multiple orders. It really hasn't helped.

It will be interesting to see how this thread evolves.

Followed all the rules except #3. Paid a bit over MSRP. If all HC buyers were a part of this forum, we might have a shot at keeping ADM's to a bare minimum......But we are in the minority. Yes we have a loud voice, however all it takes is for someone with lots of $$$ to encourage 15 to 25K over. Can't recall anyone stating OR admitting to paying more than 7.5K over on this forum....just my 2 cents.

I don't see the big deal with multiple orders if dealers were actually canceling the unwanted orders. The allocation system created an environment where placing multiple orders may be desired. By placing an order at 2 dealerships, one of those orders will be built first and the other 'cancelled' order is doing no harm unless the dealer is scum and decides to keep the order. Dealers shouldn't be able to keep an order in the system if the customer no longer wants that order. With that said, if the dealer is scum then they don't really need your cancelled order to get a car... They can create a fake order (and they are doing just that).

It's useless to keep reflecting back and pointing fingers at the poor allocation system or the issues that have popped up because of it (multiple orders, fake orders, etc). Energy needs to go towards identifying a solution and making the real customers happy.

The problem is that orders are assigned VINs and getting scheduled with way too little validation. If FCA wants to build cars for real customers then they need to implement a system to validate orders prior to scheduling the builds. The necessity of validation wasn't so obvious when the order banks opened, but they desperately need to do to so now to clean up this huge mess.
