Does anyone else find it odd that the 6.4L oil capacity is 7qt while the supercharged 6.2 is only 6qt? I would have thought the hellcat engine would have a larger capacity not smaller!

Why should a 6.2 have more oil than a 6.4?

The supercharger is sealed for life and a 6.2L is smaller than a 6.4L

Just guessing here, but if the bottom end components are beefier, maybe there is less room in the pan.

6.4 L equals about 392 cubic inches and a 6.2 L equals about 378 cubic inches. So mathematically speaking, the 6.2 L holds less volume and therefore would require less oil.

The cubic inch/litre measurement is the displacement ABOVE the 8 pistons. Has nothing to do with crankcase volume.

They got it all "engineered" out plus the charger is cooled, big thing with oil is it cools so probably don't need as much.
    I ok with it.

So, my 08 Challenger 6.0 takes 7 quarts. Owners Manual page 515 says the Hellcat takes 7.5 qts while the 6.4 takes 7 qts,

Plus they never made a challenger with a 6.0. Unless you put a ls motor in it... I think you mean 6.1... lol. Just giving you a hard time

Which owners manual are you using? Here is a snippet from Dodge's online downloadable manual. It says 6 quarts.
