    Hi All,

I couldn't find a thread to my question so my apologies if I missed it. The book shows doing oil changes every 6,000 miles. As we all know, you can change it as often as you like but I wanted to know what is the Max miles one should go with the 0-40 Synthetic. I always run Mobil 1 with Mobil 1 filter and wanted to get everyone's thoughts. Is doing the every 6K miles good without any long term effects to the engine.

    Thank you,

The book says the MAX is 6000 miles. I'm changing mine every 5000 or when the oil minder says to change it or which ever comes first. Also Mobil1 doesn't meet the MS12633 specs for the oil that we need for our car. So far the only ones that do are Penzoil Ultra Premium, AmsOil, Redline and Unversial Lubricants out of Kansas

I change all my SRT / RT vehicles at 4k miles now... I know it's overkill.

I was changing my wife's 6.1 srt 300 at 5k miles and it seemed to go through some oil but had no issues even at 110k + miles. Sometimes even a quart or more low so I figure it's a good practice.

Thanks for the input :) What do you think the long term effects of running Mobil 1 would be. I had a 10 year old SRT8 Charger and ran nothing but Mobil 1 - 0-40 but I know the hellcat is different. Would the Mobil-1 be bad, I know there are a lot of opinions about oil out there LOL :) Wonder what is so different about the Hellcat Hemi???

My thought is after 3000 miles, if it uses a quart of oil it's time to change it.

I have heard that the MS12633 spec oil has more moly in it which protects the valve train components better. I believe it was a Redline rep that was telling me that.
I have used Mobil synthetic oils in all of my vehicles for years and it is my first choice for everything except my Cat. If they come out with their version that meets MS12633 that is a 0-40 weight I will use it in my Cat.

12633 has nothing to do with additive content. Nothing. That's bunk. It's about extended run and.endurance.

The Hellcat Challenger manual ( Page 466) says under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.

It's really a personal preference when you change your oil it depends on a lot of factors first off how many cold starts without actually putting a bunch of miles on it fouls the oil eventually with raw fuel and I always will change mine every 3 k miles due to this can you go the max 6000 sure but the inside of the motor won't stay as clean that way! Definitely the most important is the first 500 miles when I would change it for the first time due to higher wear because of break in after that do it at regular change intervals. Just my 02 cents :)

If you use other than specified oil, you may run into warranty issues if an internally lubricated component should fail.

Everyone forgets to mention the "or every six months" requirement(cat scratch fever did). For guys like me that will come up way before 6000 miles. Moisture accumulates in oil with the engine just sitting around. No way would I let a car I spent $70k go to 6000 miles. This is way to long for any car that gets any kind of performance use. I plan on first change this weekend at 700 miles. I was going to do 500 but I did not have correct ramps or jack pads to lift safely. I will try new race ramps this time. Second change will probably be around 2500 miles or late summer.

Dang, you mean my Wal-Mart ramps won't work?!

I'm going to have to take that car back if that's the case... NOT!

Where'd you getting the race ramps from?

I got them from Summit Racing. I sprung for the two piece 56inch. They listed for $20 more than the one piece. I figured well worth it to be able to remove the back sections and have access to side of car. Summit lists them for $228 but they charged me $208. Not sure why? There is also a $20 rebate. I think that is on top of the discount they gave me. My rhino Ramos hit the spoiler even with front tires on plywood, They also slid. Scary! I can do a product review after I give them a try.

My Rhino ramps skid all the time until I bought a rubber floor mat and cut it in half placing them under each ramp.
