Just did my first oil change on my Challenger HC....835 miles

    Couple of observations...

    1. The drain bolt on the oil cooler was finger tight....did not need my 15mm wrench to loosen.

    2. I wish the oil cooler itself was somehow better secured to the chassis, and check the lines going to the cooler itself. One of them rubs up against a pretty sharp metal edge of the support structure around it. As the oil cooler is fee to move a bit or vibrate separate from rest of the car, I could imaging over time the metal could potentially wear a hole in the line. I put some heat shield wrap around the line to better isolate it from the structure.

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to change my HC oil for the first time this weekend.

When I changed my oil the oil cooler bolt was also "loose" but not leaking. All done though and 6qts exactly filled it to the top of the cross hatching indicator on the dipstick.

Make sure you drain the second plug for supercharger. There shouldn't be a lot of oil but it is necessary to change

The second plug for the supercharger? There are only two drains for the engine oil, normal oil drain plug and oil cooler.

A couple more to add from my first change. My oil cooler bolt was not super tight but was just about right. I used a large adjustable wrench on the square block when removing and tightening the line bolt to avoid putting stress on the line. The oil filter on mine was put on by Hercules. I still got it off. Nice to know old Herc could not get the better of this old guy. The new filter just went on as tight as I could get it by hand like I always have. It took 6.5 qts to fill mine like other guys have mentioned here. I wish this was not so but it is. I wonder if there are different suppliers for dipsticks and tubes which may give you a different reading? You would figure all other parts like oil pan etc would be the same so why the difference?

Did you check your oil when it was hot? Cold oil can show about a pint low...

Hey Teo, my dealer is actually a good long time friend of mine and I even have 5 free oil changes but I always do my own oil changes and just can't bring myself to letting their guys touch my car unless I meet them in person first. I still only have 19 miles on mine due to the worst spring weather here in Pittsburgh!!! I hope all is well with you my friend and tell your wife hello and for her to enjoy her day, ttys,Robert
