I'm getting my oil changed this week and wanted to know where should the sample be taken from for best results? The first oil that comes out or last bit of oil from the oil pan drain? From the oil cooler? I think the oil cooler is the lowest part of the oil system.

    Thanks

Like Toolman mentioned, you want the sample taken somewhere in the middle of the drain.

Yup, mid stream... Make sure there is no dirt around the drain plug, remove, let it drain for 10 seconds (give/take) and then grab the sample.

If doing a mid run sample it's best to use and extractor and suck it out the dipstick tube when the oil is warm/hot... In that case stick the tube down until it bottoms out and then pull up an inch or so..

I ship mine USPS first class mail. The oil change kit has a USPS compliant mailer and you can print a letter from website (I use Blackstone Labs) stating that it's not hazardous waste. Sometimes the counter people at USPS get confused and don't know if they can accept but usually no issue.
