Has anyone noticed their oil filter leaking? The Hellcat has 600 miles on it and I noticed a small amount of oil on the floor, so I dropped the plastic cover and the oil filter is lightly covered in oil. It is tight and dry above the filter so doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere higher than the oil cooler.

The last thing I want to do is take it to the dealership. I plan on changing the oil at 1000 miles. Its not enough oil to be dangerous but it should not be leaking.

I just did my 1st oil change at 500 Mi and noticed an oil film on the filter, it was installed way too tight. Thats why I do it myself, also great time to clean and inspect.

Exactly what I was thinking. Someone asked me about the cooler lines they are dry as a bone. Then suggested maybe its to tight they must have guerrillas installing this filter cause its TIGHT, and maybe the gasket distorted with all the tightness.

Change the filter. Add a 1/2 quart of oil (or whatever it takes to get back to full) and be done with it.

I took mine to the dealer about a month or so ago as I noticed a leak near my oil filter. They said the filter gasket was leaking some, as were the oil lines coming from right by the filter. They replaced the oil rings on the lines and also replaced the filter. Seems to be fine now.

Make sure, during oil change, that the old gasket is removed and doesn't get stuck. Two gaskets (new and stuck old one) on the new filter = a pool of oil on start up.

Yea, mine did that after the first oil change. Took it back to dealership, remove the filter, cleaned the mating surface PROPERLY, installed new filter, done deal.

When I did my second oil change, the filter gasket was stuck to the block even though I coated it with oil when I installed it.

Make sure to clean the surface as shown below.
