Last Monday I had my fuel rail recall done & an update to the pcm and today I'm at my dealer and my kat is throwing a P0308 code which is a misfire on the #8 cylinder, has this happened to anyone else? Do they have to access the #8 coil pack to do the fuel rail recall? I'm also scheduled for a service bulletin repair on the lower radiator hose clamp on the 22nd of June. Am I the only one with these issues? My kat has 2600 miles on it today.

I don't see why any coil pack would be disconnected. Is it misfiring all the time?

I just returned from the dealer and the tech definately found the p0308 code in the fault memory BUT it was firing correctly at the the dealers and on a road test. Tech had no real idea what it was but he thought it "may be" a slug of air in the fuel system which I suppose could be true. The reprograming was the transmission control upgrade so he doesn't think that was the cause. I'm watching it until the 22nd when it goes in for the lower radiator hose clamp service bulletin. That's all I know for now. Thanks Ken

It's upper rad hose clamp at radiator. If he did the recall correct it will set codes but it also states they must be erased after work is complete

It'll set codes but not misfire codes.

I just used my car this afternoon to run an errand that was 8-10 miles from my house, I parked my car for approximately 1 hour when I came out and started it it was obviously only idling on seven cylinders. One to two minutes later it through the p0308 code again and was clearly not running on all 8 cylinders. My dealer was located about 7 miles from where I was so I drove directly there and spoke with my service writer that has been working with me on this problem, he immediately plugged in his scanner and there was an "active" P0308 fault BUT the car had started to run better. We arranged to bring the car in on Saturday afternoon and leave it until Monday so they could hook it up and do a cold start test on Monday. NEW INFORMATION Sunday morning and again this morning when I started the car there was enormous white cloud of smoke that not only fogged my garage but my immediate neighborhood, I was in the car so I couldn't tell which tail pipe it was coming from and it disapared in less than a minute. It seemed like condinsation, coolant or water burning off in the exhaust system and it hasn't done it with a warm engine. I totally understand that intermittant faults are hard to diagnose and fix but this is becoming a PITA. The temperature has been in the 55 to 75 degree range while this is happening.

Drop it at the dealership and make them fix it.

(Updated correct bonehead on coil packs long day :() 4 injectors (not coil packs) have to be undone to do the fuel rail recall because it comes with 4 new injectors (but that's drivers side rail swap, not #8.) I've replaced the rail twice and the tech did reach behind passenger side for some of the work (behind #8.) In your case, you have 8 misfire, and white smoke. Easy to check coil pack connection, I'd do that myself. White smoke could indicate lean condition, heat, and some bad stuff. I'd tow at this point if I were you... Unless you're super sure its normal water condensation / vapor. But it sounds as though its more than that.

Possible coolant leak at charge air cooler inside supercharger. Wouldn't be the first.

I'm confused the coil packs have nothing to do with the fuel rail. Disconnect the injectors and 2 bolts and pull up on rail from what I see.
