Spotted a paint issue on getting my car (I probably should have refused delivery but hindsight being 20/20 and the excitement of getting a new car got the better of me), I drove it the 1800 miles home. Reported the issue to Customer Service who eventually opened a case for me, but bottom line told me to take it to a dealer and to a body shop to get a quote. Went to the dealer who did take pictures and to a body shop who confirmed that the issues are under the clear coat. Just got back in contact with Customer Care who say that there has been a bulletin circulated on how to "fix" these issues by just clearing a small section of clear coat and retouching - he wouldn't go into any more detail as he said it was too complicated for me LOL (I think he didn't understand it).

So question - has anyone heard of this "fix" or am I being given the finger?

BTW - here are the examples of what I see in my paint (under the clear coat - not sure how it got past QA), they aren't big but from a proud owner of a Hellcat $70K perspective they may as well be hammer marks from a ball peen hammer.

looks like dirt or grease either stained the clearcoat or when the undercoat was applied? Most likely they will wet sand it out or wet sand the clear coat and touch it up then re apply it.

Before you have any work done to it, buy Meguires Clay system, and try using it on the spots. The clay can remove most spots if they are on top of the paint. It's worth the money, I use it on my Cat and other cars as needed.

Had a shop try compound and I even had a very light go with 2000 wet and dry.- it's under the clear coat. :-( I really don't want a re-spray because now it's not "factory" and I feel a little "abused" after paying for a $70K car and not getting the quality finish that I got on my '12 SRT - seems standards are slipping.

Thanks for the clay bar advice.

Sorry to hear it's under the clear. I have a white R/T Shaker and the paint has a few spots with dirt or foreign particulate in it, but nothing like what you have in yours. Good luck with it.

Man, I'm sorry to hear about your paint issues. My HC just hit the dealer lot and has to have a quarter panel repainted.
Where is QC and Fenkell? Non-existent. What a shame for cars we are paying near $70k for + TTL.
    I'm sharing your pain.

Shadow - good luck with the quarter panel, not sure about yourself, I just feel a little "meh" about the car now instead of having that "excitement" Don't get me wrong it's a"monster" of a car and terrific to drive but when you go to shows and have to "explain - yup that's how it came from the factory" you feel stupid and ripped off.

I'm sure there will be messages to Tim in the near future.

I feel like I need to share my story...a couple years ago..I bought a charger rt. Redline red pearl coat 3...The trunk roof, rear spoiler and quarters had paint issues..Took it to the dealer, said that would take car of it..just over 3 weeks later I got the car back,, looked perfect,, never could tell it was repainted..what I'm saying is, some body shops can really paint a car better then the factory, proof being, our cars have paint issues...I'm probably one of the worst people to deal with when it comes to my car, as I'm super ocd...so give them a chance..you may be pleasantly surprised.

Hellcat1, thanks for the share, I'm certain there are paints shops out there that can do "better" thank factory, however I'm also sure there are just as many horror stories. I think my point is why should I take that gamble when what I paid for was a "bright white" Hellcat with zero defects, I'm wondering why there is a QA process? Unless FCA can verify that this is acceptable to them. Then at least the general public will know what to expect when they hand over their savings...

I don't think Fenkell would catch this. QC for sure.

I'm not sure the pictures do the imperfections justice, was at a car meet tonight and everyone noticed.... :-(. Sort of takes the wind out of your sails.
