Pinning the Crank Pulley

    Decided it is the right thing to do especially with an upper pulley change.
    I have done one before on my 300, so I am familiar with the process and I do have a pinning kit from the old 6.1 platform that I think will work based on what I have read.

    I would appreciate any insight from anyone who has done this on a charger ?

    It looks like I can get to it with a 90 deg drill as long as I remove the fan housing.

    It also looks like the fan assembly has to come out of the top. I can't see it fitting by removing it from the bottom. Perhaps fnkychkn has some insight on removal of the fan assembly?

    Is the done while still being on the car?? Or is it a bench top mod??

    I want to say cole333 May being doing his add we speak...he had spon two pulleys so far

    I've done it in a '13 SRT Charger.
    Pull the fans.
    Unbolt the radiator and tilt it back a bit.
    I used a cordless angle drill.
    It's not fun but it can be done.
    I wouldn't imagine the Hellcat to be much worse

    I have done one the same way.

    I actually got the fans out and backed off the rad. There is room with a right angle drill except I can't get the crank bolt out for the life of me.

    I think it's time to put it back together and re-group

    Ps - I have a new crank bolt ready to go in..

    Throw some heat to her,if you do make sure to wrap a wet rag or cloth around the pulley so you control the heat to the pulley,just heat the bolt....Carefull....
    And Use An Impact Gun with an impact 6 point socket & no reducers if at all possible!

    I had a hard time getting my 5.3L LS crank bolt out. It took two people, one pulling and one pushing, and an extra long breaker bar.

    Thanks for the tip

    I usually put a breaker bar, pry it on the floor and jog the engine with the starter. Rotation is opposite and it works. Never had a problem.

    This time, no dice.

    I can't turn it by hand with the breaker bar because the engine spins and I don't know how to stop it from spinning on an automatic.

    Frustrating..

    Use the gearbox pull under the centre console and stick it in drive. That should work

    I don't know if the Hellcat pulley has it, but on the 392 pulley there's 2 x 10mm threaded holes.
    I took 2 long shouldered bolts and threaded them in and used a pry bar to hold the pulley from turning. Then I used a breaker bar and cheater pipe to break it loose.
    Did the same thing on reassembly to torque it.

    When I was looking there is in fact 3 holes for a pulley remover and they had threads in them
    I will find a couple bolts and use a pry bar from prevent rotation, Damn, wish I would have thought of that then.
    I put the car back together last night in frustration. Will tackle another day....

    keep the pulley balanced as I used roll pins per Kenne belle instructions
    The fixture had 2 holes in it.
    While I was at it I did both pins . . . . .couldn't hurt I suppose

    Ok Makes sense... I just hadn't seen that. If KB says to do both... that is what you do.
