I did my rims 2 months ago and one of them is peeling pretty bad. Not sure I would do it on such a large area as my hood. I don't think it's durable enough. Just my opinion.

How many coats of dip did you use. I have done my truck and car and it held up to our Canadian winters just fine.

I did 6 coats of black and 3 coats of glossifier. Other three wheels are fine but one is peeling pretty bad. I'll try and get a pic after work.

What did you prep the rim with before dipping?

Guys, plasti dip has its place, but if you want something that lasts go to Eastwood and get Elastiwrap...

    ElastiWrap - Paints Coatings

Its MUCH better and its basically a vinyl wrap in a bottle.

I washed all wheels with soap and water before applying the plastidip.

Looks like it never took to the surface. I use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray on and wipe off and it take away all the moisture from washing. It's pretty much what there pre-dip spray is. Also make sure your dip is kept at room temperature, I found it sprays way better that way.

I wish I could have just found someone that wanted to trade their HC wheels for my SRT's.

Was just trying to find another option besides wrapping or painting the hood. Something that can be used on a daily driver that doesn't get garage kept all the time. Easy to clean and take care of

I had my hood wrapped on my 09 RT and would say that it was much more durable than if you used plastidip. Also the plastidip finish is not very smooth once it's dry. It looks good from a few feet away but up close not good enough for an entire hood.
