So today I took the hellcat in for a 500 mile oil change and recalls. While running the vehicle he hears a high pitch whine from the supercharger. He asked me if heard this and told him it's been like that since day one. We walked to the show room floor where they have a hellcat in there and we fire up the motor. No whine. I had to leave the hellcat there so they can do some scans and talk to SRT tomorrow. I've had this hellcat since Jan15 with only 500 miles due to being military and gone. Garage kept and never abused. Hopefully hear from SRT tomorrow.

Hi and thanks for your service.
Sorry to hear you may have an issue.
My guess is it could be an idler pulley bearing or super charger bearing.
Hope it is the former and not the latter.
Welcome home. You are in good hands with SRT so fear not.

I will be surprised if you have an issue.
My SC on my Charger is a lot louder than my husband's
You can hear the difference in our videos from the track and it was like like before I made any changes.

    Linda:)

Maybe that has something to do with your car being a freak. Didn't TC say your car makes better power with any given mods (or possibly even stock). Sounds like you got a good one!

ive seen a youtube video with a z06 that had a bad supercharger that wasn't making max boost they could tell this on a racetrack but in the real-world do you guys think you would be able to tell if the cat wasn't making the boost it should be? I know the engines are tested.

My impression is there is some variability in engine and supercharger noise between all the vehicles out there. Like Linda says that does not mean there is something wrong that will cause damage in the future. If it hadn't bothered you before and the tech doesn't find something out of spec I'd be tempted to leave well enough alone.

To pin it down to the supercharger just remove the supercharger belt and compare the noise.

Could be the possibility of grease in a idler pulley dried out from the car being stored for a long period of time.

Update: so the senior tech today told me he ordered a new supercharger. Said the bearings were being worn out. They ordered a new one. Claims it will be sometime next week. At least they let me take it home. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for all the comments and advice.

I hope so too. How long has been for you without your Hellcat? Make sure you note all this stuff down and have it documented,......just in case.
    Good luck!

Whiskey tango foxtrot? Bearings worn out after only 500 miles??
did you not ask for an explanation as that should not happen! Unless they forgot to pack grease in them but that's scary what else was forgotten?

Were you aware that retail on that supercharger is almost $12,000?
I wouldn't want to have to replace it out of warranty
