i was driving home tonight when my power steering went out. I noticed it when I stopped at a light. It seemed fine at higher RPM's but when I was at idle or very low RPM's, it was nearly impossible to turn the wheel and the pump was whining pretty loudly. When I got home, I couldn't see any leaks of any kind and the reservoir was full. Anyone else have this issue? I'm thinking the pump went out partially. Is this a Dodge issue? Any idea why it would suddenly go out?

Everything else seemed ok. What other symptoms would the lower pulley cause?

Look where the belt contacts all pulleys see if anything has any excessive movement ?? Check belt tension at the ps pump ?

I think someone else here had the same issue and ended up being the crank pulley. What is the build date of you car someone on here is tracking that also with the pulley failures

Temps would go up and voltage would drop. But you wouldn't notice if it was just intermittent. The power steering would be instant though.

Hmmmmmm I don't recall any failures from that time I believe most are from May-June ? Hopefully is just something simple like a pump ?

I watched the temps all the way home. No different than before. Around 202 to 207 while in traffic or sitting. 197 to 199 while driving.

That's good. Check lower pulley in am. May have a leak on suction side of pump causing some aeration or something. That could be why you see no drips

Nerves of steel. I'm betting most here wouldn't sleep with the thought of a spun crank pulley in the back of their head.
