I just installed PowerStop Z23 pads on all four corners. I did the break in like they said on the box and drove around normally for another 20-25 minutes. Even after doing the specified break in I still hear the pads rubbing up against the rotors which is very annoying. My question is how long will it take for these pads to be fully broken in so I won't hear that rubbing noise anymore?

I don't know what their particular procedure is, but if you bed the brakes properly, you should have no issues. I do about a dozen 60-0 stops (as hard as you can without activating ABS or skidding, and do not come to a complete stop) as soon as the brakes are installed.

I followed the directions to a T. Have the same results as you. Gonna find a piece of road where I can do it again.

I had my dealer drop in the Z23's and do the break-in when I did a tire rotation. I was not there to witness the break-in, but I can tell you that mine made no sound right when I picked it up and they had only put a couple miles on it. Gotta think that if you are hearing any noise at all after your break-in, that something is not right...

Did you turn the rotors or just install them

Brakes.jpg brakes2.jpg I turned mine with no isues. They are so thick and heavy. They only had 1.800 miles on them. These were Z-23 went to Z-26 so far so good.

The car has 6000 miles on the rotors. I just took it out again today and did the break in procedure again like it says on the box. It seems like the noise is only coming from the rear drivers side which has tiny metal dust on the rim. No other rim had that. So I'm thinking of putting the stock pads back in the rears and see if that fixes that annoying rubbing noise. I can live with the stock pads in the rear because the brake dust is minor. Fingers crossed it works.

Did you do all four? I think I am just getting the noise from the drivers side rear which has tiny metal dust on it. I am going to switch the rears back to the stock pads and see what happens with that grinding rubbing noise. I followed the break in to a T also.

I didi all 4. And I did 5 good hard stops from 65mph and then a cool down when I left work today. I didn't notice the low clatter I'd heard before. Hope I got it.

The rotors are Probably glazed you could take a flap disk to the rotor and rough it up so the pad can seat to the rotor.

I still have the Z-23 on the rear with no problems.

I did all 4 brakes with the Z23's and then followed the bedding procedure exactly. Absolutely no problems and no noises. I love 'em.

Problem solved took out the rear drivers side pads cleaned them off put them back in went for a drive and no more grinding noise and zero brake dust. No more cleaning the rims every time I take it out. Phew! o_O:)

Do the Z23 pads "feel" different while braking, better or worse than stock? Hate the dust but like the feel.
