I like a some exhaust sound but not a lot of noise.

Borla makes a line of crate-motor mufflers. I ordered them from Jeg's (a pair of 3" directional flow, straight thru, Touring mufflers) and then had them locally installed and am 100% happy. The mufflers installed are Borla part #400839.

The shop rolled the edges down to the 2.75" pipe diameter and welded them in. Noise is greatly reduced, drone is almost non-existient and I have no baffles (edit - in the mufflers)!

Not sure I understand. You wanted it quieter than the stock exhaust?
My stock exhaust has no drone and it is reasonably quiet at steady cruise, in fact there is less cabin noise at steady cruise than the 09 SRT I traded in with stock exhaust.

I love the stock HC exhaust sound and have no intention of modifying it but curious you didn't get a CEL when you removed the baffles?

The factory mufflers removed before the axles had no baffles. They were about 5 or so inches in diameter. My Cat had plenty of drone before and it still barks with these Borlas but no drone. I'll take the quieting it down abuse happily . I'll post a video...

Glad you like your Borlas, I had them (or some Borla version) on my '09 srt8 and really liked em as well.

That being said, I think the stock exhaust on the HC is damn near perfect as I have ever heard. Personal preference thing, I get it.

I have about 13500 miles now and it just seems to get deeper and growlier sounding with the extra miles. I think the carbon build-up really does something magical in there. Sometimes I just get the urge to go out and fire it up just to hear it, lol :)

Always finding some excuse to run to the store and such. This is now a common conversation: "Awe honey, you forgot to pick up some milk, bread, tp, insert any random item here_________? No problem, let me go pick that up right now!" :)

Shoot, I don't even put mail in the mailbox for the postman to pick up anymore. Nope, if I got letters to mail, that warrants a trip to the post office.:)

I don't get it either. The stock exhaust is perfect... loud when you want it to be, tame when you don't want to draw attention. Almost too quiet at those times actually. And I'm an A8 and have zero drone on my stock system. There's a difference between hearing the exhaust and having drone... our cars don't drone in stock form.

Op, I drove my car for the first time yesterday to work and largely drove slow on purpose because it was so warm I was able to have the windows down and listen to our wonderful deep rumble. I am with the others, the factory did almost perfect.

I did put on headphones to really listen. I'll say not bad, you seemed to take a bit of a raspy tone away but not change it too bad. If you like it great! FYI the baffles are about adjacent to the rear end, my guess is you still have them installed or your car would be blinking an idiot light in your face.
