I currently use a Beltronics RX65 with a passport suction mount. However at least once a month I have to clean and reattach after I find it hanging from the mirror. (mirror powered)

Today I was looking at the mirror mount in a scat pack (assuming the HC is the same) and it has a hard cover on the bottom that looks like it would be a perfect place to permanently mount the bracket onto. It has a little bit of play so I am assuming it is just a snap on cosmetic covering. Has anyone tried this or taken the cover off to see whats under it?

Yeah I'm familiar with the blend mount. I'm also a cheapskate who is wondering if a solid mount in that location wouldn't be a little cleaner. ;)

Besides, the money I save not getting the blend mount, I can use to get the HC door projector lights....

Sun visor clip is my favorite mount. The only thing is you loose usage of the sun visor which I don't care because it's on the passenger visor

Opinion, they could be very effective if the user knows what he is doing, knows what is going on in his area and uses his head

It was a rhetorical question :)
My Beltronics rx65 has saved my ass so many times that when (yes not if but when) I get popped, I do not even argue or fight.
Detectors only work if there is other traffic that gets hit first...

If you have the RX65 that came out a few years ago (different than the current ones), you have the best bang for your buck ever built. And if you were to sell it to someone that knows that, you could even get your exact purchase price. The older ones have the S7 antenna and the new ones have the M4 antenna. If you look on the FCC label on it it should tell you M4 or S7.

The older ones are much more sensitive to Ka bands and kinda have them segmented in there.
