At 5 mph, sharp L/R turn, bump or rub noise from rear end area. 2016. 6k AT. Anyone else had this issue?

Mine makes a noise too. I think there was a thread on it and I believe they said it's the rear gears breaking in.

I've had a similar sound when making a very sharp turn at very low speed.

I've not noticed anything so far but going to pay attention.

Yo bobcat op. Most likely clutches breaking in. Stay on it if it gets worse see your Dodge dealer.

It's not anything breaking in. It's a lack of friction modifier in the differential. Take it in and get them to put in the additive and you'll be good to go.

This will only get worse if you leave it alone.

Wonder if there's a TSB on the rear diff additive. ?

So is there suppose to be friction modifier added to the differential as part of the original build or is this a sometime needed sometimes not? Wrong differential fluid from the start?

I haven't seen a TSB yet. All the cars need it. Obviously not added correctly at the factory.

There's friction modifier already in the diff fluid for our LSD. That's why it has it's own special part#. Noise is annoying but normal for LSD's. It's the CF clutch plates rubbing together. I've had it on 2 Hellcats and my GT500. If they add extra modifier it may affect LSD operation. Find a parking lot and do some figure 8s. That sometimes quiets it. Except for that I'd leave it alone.

We tried the parking lot thing and it got much louder. The dealer ended up draining and refilling. It's been good since.

This has been a common LSD problem for decades. More/better additive usually fixes it.

Why would it stop from just a drain and refill? Different or better lube than from the factory?

On my first car we did the drain/refill. Stopped it for a little while then it returned. Maybe you'll have better luck. Not sure why that would work since it's the exact same fluid, but hey whatever works.
