My brother and I bought hellcats at the same time. He had a noise in the rear end and now is getting a new third member with suspension and axles all the way out to the brakes. Any others?

I find your statement very hard to believe no offense.

Yes getting a complete new 3rd memeber (or diff) is the norm when they replace the rear end in Challenger/Chargers I am not questioning that part of the repair.

But I believe your mistaken about new suspension, axles, and brakes. No reason to replace any of those parts for a rear end noise that is located in the diff.

The service guy said they were sending everything to the brakes as a replacement. We'll see what he gets. I have no idea how the workings of FCA are.

Well that sounds extremely wasteful on a cost to FCA if you ask me. I wonder how that got through and didn't raise any questions from higher ups at FCA?

FCA doesn't make the diff. Getrag makes the diffs and sends them to Chrysler. All they do at Brampton is bolt them into the car.

And I wouldn't call diff in the Challengers a POS. OK maybe a handful have some whine issues but all gears whine just some more than others. But how many diffs do you see blown up in a Challenger? The Getrag diff is actually very strong.

My rear differential got replaced Thursday because it had ring and pinion whine. The new one still has a little noise but not as bad and I only have 1500 miles on mine.
