Can anybody feel the difference between the red and black keys?
I know that 200+ hp difference is a lot, but I would like to hear from somebody with a Hellcat, not a magazine
I've been using the black key up here in the northeast for winter driving to hopefully minimize wheel spin and going sideways if I happen to get on it a bit too hard. It's a noticeable difference, but still has plenty of power.
LOL, too funny! I took my best friend for a spin last weekend and scared the crap out of him, and said that's just the black key, he said Huh? So I had to explain that was only 500hp, he said You're kidding me, right?
Only thing I can find that my statement could be true is
The bypass valve inside the Hellcat’s supercharger assembly is actually a repurposed throttle body from a four-cylinder engine. The natural state for the unit is open instead of closed—opposite of a throttle body. When your throttle foot goes down, the bypass shuts, instantly creating boost.
Peering into the cutaway on the Hellcat’s manifold, you can see how the high-helix rotors of the IHI supercharger trap air between the rotors and not against the housing—a feature that keeps charge temp down. This view also illustrates the dense packing of layers in the heat exchanger core.
yes the bypass valve is a re-purposed throttle body...when you use the black key going WOT you will see that your boost is limited...boost is what makes all the power...you cant make an additional 200hp with a more open TB...the tune remains the same...the timing, the fuel trim...everything follows the same rules - regardless of key ...the pcm sees the map pressure and all the other inputs and commands the correct values from the tune...i have the 285 pulley so my black key boost is 3 psi higher than stock thus i get about 600hp with the black key and 800hp with red key

Just looking for facts to back it up, I would really like to know either way! upnorthstar I have 947rwhp I had them use black key and it made over 700rwhp but was in dangerously running lean so they stopped. Many guys have blower engines because of too lean. Just saying they took battery out of Blk key and said hide the key. Help me find a facts to back this.
