I did some Hellcat lovin over the snow days a while ago.
I looked at one car on this site that had a red strip on the black wheels on a challenger.
I created a post asking for some help to identify who owned the car.

Whose Challenger is this? I think it is Granite
I found out it was from a member Paul Suloof who was a professional Drag Racer back in the 60's and 70's.
In the tread, another member of the site CNYCHC gave me an idea to look into a place called Tapeworks.
    Rimstripes by Tapeworks
They have a lot of tape colors and types to choose from. They are from North Carolina

So I did and I bought a kit from them. Using a tool that they designed and their tape. Invoice for kit.JPG
There is enough in the kit to do 6 wheels, so if you mess one up, which I did on the first try. you still have enough to do the car with one left over to use later if you need to.

It takes 2 people to do this if you do not take off the wheels. I have a 4 post lift so I lifted up the front first and then the rears.
    front rack_edited-1.JPG IMG_1988_edited-1.JPG

The rears and backed it outside for a better look.
    Rear stripe_edited-1.JPG outside 4_edited-1.JPG
And the full Monty. I think this will make a statement.

    outside 6_edited-1.JPG
Total time to install all 4 wheels is less than one hour. One to hold the tool with the tape in it and the
other to spin the tire. Slowly.

Thank you Paul and CNYCHC for the help and advise on this.

You can't make a quiet entrance in a Hellcat. It is more like Lenny and Squiggy coming into the room.
    HELLOO! ( in your face)
    From Laverne and Shirley. HAHA

I like the contrast it adds to the car.

    Matt

Nice job, Matt. I may do this to my Granite car. I think it looks good. Glad to see that the tool works well. I will be installing the Z26 brake pads on all 4 corners, so that is probably the time to do the wheel stripes as well.

I like it with that color on the Charger. It would not work without the brakes, huh?

that's correct. Hard to judge comparing from an internet picture to the Brembo's but it is close.

They make them to your order if you wanted to have a logo or customized text inside the stripe.
It took me longer to cut the stripes into single strips than it was to put them on.

One misleading thing is the time to do it. Time to prep the rims took me forever. I used IronX on both front and rear sides of the rims
one at a time while off of the car.
Now that the stripe is on them, the detailer who did my Xpel told me about a product called Rejex. I bought it and applied it to the inside of the wheels. Now to add a coat over the stripe hopefully will seal it to the wheel for me.

That's why I'm changing the brake pads to the Powerstop Z26 pads....to keep the wheels cleaner.

I think the tire stripes look awesome. Makes the car look racier!

Not a sales person for this company, but if you visit their site. You will find that they have hundreds of colors. I think someone
said that there is a Sublime Mopar on there for display.
I like the look it gives, and while waiting for good weather to do it. I see on the Bitchin' Rides show that they did 2 Audi A8's
and painted stripes on the rims red. Really stood out on that car.
Made me turn up the heat in the garage and do the wheels.

Hi. New to the forum. One of those is my Sublime HC on their website. Rob the owner is a really nice guy and very cooperative in discussing everything from installation to color choices. They were at SEMA and that photo was used for some of their literature along with some of the other cool rides on their site. They spent some time getting the striping to match the sublime color about as close as is possible.

MattG is correct in that it will take more time to install but then again most of us would prefer to take our time and get it right anyway. The tool provided to make the install is designed to be used with a wide variety of wheels so it takes a bit to get it set up correctly. I did mine by myself and it makes sense to get the wheels off the ground. I kept mine on the car and having a nice floor jack is really a time saver. Once your set up, spin the wheels and its done. But it's not as easy as that sounds. Just take your time and most can install these yourself.

I am really conflicted about the murdered out all black look on cars. Maybe it's my age and/or what I grew up liking but I usually prefer a chrome/polished wheel. Now since my HC has the black hood it seems that the black wheels add to that sinister look with the black hood and can't see it any other way. Its also a nice offset to the loud color. Still, in my mind, was it too much black? Adding the sublime pinstripe on the wheel breaks it all up a bit and I'm now able to appreciate it more. If I grow tired of it, then just peel it off. Different color? buy a new roll. easy. temporary. We'll see how long they last on the car after a few washes and regular driving around. So far so good. (be mindful of the car wash power sprays)

btw, was at the Chicago Auto Show this past week and happened upon a new Corvette C7-R (very cool) in the Chevrolet pavillion and it had a matching painted pinstripe on the black wheels from the factory. (Yellow!) I think you will start to see more factory equipped cars coming out with that complimentary pinstripe on the wheels, whatever finish they are.

Not sure if any one is on the fence but Rob is great to work with, Did a trial on my HC to see which one looked better.

We did a Red to match the brakes and a Purple since I'm going with purple billet items.

    I like them both.
I can say that the tape stays on at 120+ mph.
no pulling up since i put them on. I have had many comments on what i did
( Thanks to Paul Suloff for the idea)
And like you said, it can be pulled off and change the color
