I was looking at going wider but I want to stay with the stock style rim. I found many replica ones but all 9".

I ended up calling one of me and he advised that they will have a 10" model available in about 6 weeks.

So this may be another option for you guys.

I already have my 18" Nitto NT05R drag radials for the track but have a replica 10" and thought on a wide performance summer tire is appealing

    CDN,
Does an 18 in rim fit over the rear brakes? If so what brand rim are you using?

Don't HC rims weigh 30 lbs? Not really light...

HC rims are forged alum and reps are usually cast alum I can't find the weight but HC was in the mid up 20's and the cast should be mid 30's in comparison.

Fits over brakes but you can only go 10" wide without relocating the sway bar.

Hey I will have to go look as I have had the rims for three years now but they fit without issue.

As for weight yes forged is of course lighter but we are only talking 20 to 25 pounds overall and frankly when I'm racing I would rather put a tire on a rim size that is recommended.

I know guys are fitting 305's on a 9.5 rim and have no issues but if they had an accident and a collision investigation was done and the tires were the causal factor, liability wise you would be, as we say up the creek without a paddle.

I went with a different style of rim 18x10 and the 305 fit as well as the wheel well.

Theses new rims may be a great option if keeping a stock appearance

Well this rim match's. In look but I like an 18" better for the track as I get more sidewall. I'm using the Nittor NT05R. They are great but boy do they not last as they are soft.

I found 18 to 20 lbs was best and about only a 7 or 8 second burn.

I didn't drive with these daily as they are dangerous in the rain.

No if you plan on having them on the street more often then the NT555r is good too but not as good as the NT05R at the track.

I don't plan on using them for any street driving. That why I would love a true full slick tire. But I don't know if anyone makes them for a rim that fits our car.

With the Nitto you have two choice

    305/45/18 or

    305/35/20

The 35 and 45 mean percentage of tread equals sidewall height.

Having the higher sidewall with low air provides the flex during launch for increased traction.

People can say what the want but there is a noticeable traction difference between tire sizes with different sidewalks.

Good luck on finding what works for you.

The Nittor NT05R comes in a size for the 10" rim and if you are only at the track you could try and risk it but Im not willing too that is why I think they replica will be great for the track especially if you are trying to keep the look.

If you are that worried about weight go with less fuel at the track as a full tank is 200 lbs.
