Firstly, apologies as I think several of my questions have been answered throughout different threads, but I would be very curious on receiving some advice. I am always humbled by the amount of knowledge from everyone on this Forum.

It appears that my Cat will arrive at my dealership when I am traveling on business internationally, so I will not be there to greet my Cat and oversee proper prepping. Probably early-to-mid July delivery.... Plus, my dealership is 350 miles from my home, so I will book a one way flight hopefully not longer than a week after delivery! There are several concerns that I have which most likely can be mitigated.

    1. This will be the dealer's first Hellcat. They do not know much about the Hellcat as they are used to selling mini vans and pick ups so I am told.
    2. I have requested for the dealer NOT to install the front license plate. The dealer responded that they could not guarantee that but would try. Ugh...
    3. If the car is with the dealer for a week before I arrive, will they put it on the show room floor for everyone to sit in and touch? Ugh...
    4. Who is going to prep the car and do they know what they are doing? What if it has 50 miles on it when I get there? Ugh...

I think the dealer is quite good, but just inexperienced when it comes to the Hellcat. What should I demand from the dealer to ensure they do not mistreat my Cat?

    Thank you kindly,
    B

I was in similar situation. I bought my car from a dealer that was 363 miles from my house (one way flight).

The PDI process isn't any big deal. There are a few techs here that can explain. I think they run a battery voltage check, torque the wheels, test drive it to shake out any potential problems, install the pedal covers. I'm sure there is more but no big deal by any means.

I asked my dealership to not put on the front plate (they said they never do on the SRTs anyway), save all paperwork and most importantly to carefully wash it so they don't put scratches and swirls in the paint.

They did a great job on all accounts. Good luck. I hope it all works out.

If they do need to put it on the show room floor I would ask them to keep it locked and maybe rope it off (doesn't hurt to ask)

My dealer has an SRT PDI guy. He is the only one allowed to do the PDI. Any requests and concerns should be put in writing...email.. to the Owner, GM, service mgr and your contact there. CC everyone with concerns about front plate, mileage and public accessibility during your absence. Generally, the PDI takes about 30 min or so. Good Luck and congrats.

It's just a car like any other car. Really tired of people thinking us techs don't know crap or going to beat there car.

Thank you all. DrBuick, my apologies as I meant no disrespect. I have read your posts and have great respect for your expertise and would hope someone of your caliber were looking after my Cat. I do think that the Cat is special and not just like any other car or minivan. Any members of the Caravan.org for mini van fans out there? Again, my apologies, DrBuick.

I bought from a dealer 500 miles away and they had it for week. They parked it in a corner where no one could get to it and only the GM drove it. They even made me move it into the shop to change the lugs

I was told a dealership could not accept a Hellcat from FCA without a SRT certified tech in house. At my dealership they two Hellcat tech's in house. Only those two guys service my car or any Hellcat. I know them both and they are good guys. DrBuick, your thoughts?
