    Hi all,

I have been looking at this forum daily for some time and finally decided to join officially. I don't have a Challenger Hellcat yet, but I am saving like crazy to order one. I would like to save as long as possible before I order one to reduce my payment.

What worries me is how long I can really wait before its too late. I keep reading how that the V8 likely will be gone for the 2018 or 2019 model year. I know killing the V8 is not a sure thing yet, but do you all have any idea when I should have my order in to guarantee that I can get my dream car? I don't want to sell off my other toys and raid the 401K but also sure don't want to miss out on such and awesome car!

Thanks in advance for your input!

Brother, welcome, I love the 45-70, I have a few lever actions in that caliper, all Marlins. The cars are currently on the showroom floors, I see no need to order. This is a subject that invokes a lot debate, yes, the party will be over soon. Just buy one when you are ready, hopefully in 2016 or 2017 ;);)

Well... I suggest you don't raid your 401K for a car. The rumor mill says that 2018 is the last year for the LX & LC platform and the G3 Hemi. It seems hard to believe for the Hemi... as it would seem they still need an engine like this for trucks an towing. If I were you I would hold off one more year as I suspect the prices will stabilize on these cars. I think the prices will then come down on used so you may find a good deal that way. There are a lot of non mopar guys out there that buy a car every year or two and look to get whats hot on the market... the Hellcat has been hot for a couple of years now. Good Luck!

    Thanks everyone for the input!

April, you are totally correct that I should not overstretch too much. Its hard too do when I get shiny new car syndrome, but going to play it smart. I just better do it soon....

Hey bud. The v8 isn't going anywhere soon. I hope your dream comes true for you. You gotta believe. That's all it takes.

This platform will end in a model year or two.

Have you seen the concept car to replace it?

Barracuda, slightly smaller, may not be v8 supercharged hemi.....will be a worthy replacement for the 4000lb challenger.

For me I wanted a big road car. Not caring much about g forces on a skid pad. This current car is great on trips and is roomy inside. So if that's your hot button, get one now before they are gone.

Other then the stupid CAFE regulations is there any other reason why Dodge would kill such a popular and hot selling car?

Also given the CAFE regs could they still build the car and pass the CAFE mileage penalty fee on to each customer in addition to the gas guzzler tax? I hate to pay for stupid stuff, but I would if meant getting the car or not.

Looking at the money numbers again I would be very tight to order one even in the next year. If I could save until 2018 I think that I could swing the payment. Right now it would be just over what my mortgage is and I would be living like a broke college student again, but with a Hellcat!

That being said if 2018 was the last year of the Challenger Hellcat any idea roughly when Dodge would quit accepting orders? I assume before September???

Sorry for all my questions, but I do appreciate the feedback!

Only a few people here can give an accurate answer, resume speed being one.

As for killing off, that's how car company stays I'm business, they don't keep a team of designers, engineers mock up specialist around to keep working on yesterday's cars, otherwise we'd all have Edsel s in the driveway. Bottom line: popular or not, everything comes to an end...
