I have a nice scratch on my hood from a rock or bolt or... Heck could have been a ladder as this is Houston lol. Is this something I take to a dealer or a body shop?

No dent? Just a scratch? Did it get into the paint (below the clear coat)?

    Really?

I'd run by a collision center and get an estimate. If the scratch is not bad it can be wet sanded and buffed right out in about 5 - 10 minutes. Good luck!

Dealer body shop. But not all dealerships are great. Allen Samuels body shop has a lifetime warranty on the body paint job

Yeppers. Your black car will show every rock ding that chips the paint. Aluminum hoods expose rock dings, especially on dark paint.

I'd look into the practicality of sanding the scratch smooth and vinyl covering the hood in satin black.

Ugh, I can imagine going nuts about it on a black car, because I am anal enough about it on my red one. I know these black rims are making me crazy ... lots of rock chips. I am getting them powder coated next month, it is sad how excited I am to get that done.

It doesn't bother me that much but I want to get it fixed. There are things many times more important than a car.... I'll get her fixed

A good PDR guy will be able to fill the scratch and level the repair. If you don't know of a good PDR guy in your area, go to a high end dealership in your area (like a Mercedes or Porsche dealership) and ask them who they use.

Use the touch up paint they give you work like a ballpoint pen of has a brush, layer carefully allow 1 hour to dry and then us compound to smooth, may need 2-3 applications, a good detailing guy may be able to do it as well.
Had a stone chip on my bumper and like magic they made it go away

Got a rock chip on my crystal granite hood. Aluminum had a slight dent. got a dent dude to push it out. Touched up with factory paint, but was darker than stock. Can hardly see it but I know it's there. Each week I forget more and more. You just reminded me!! Other option for me was to wrap the hood, haven't decided on that one.

These are street cars and will be surely dinged up over time. Have to bear with it until going for a repair. I wait for more than one thing to happen before popping for a repair. Perhaps you can get the hood wrapped in satin black maybe?
