I bought my Cat grey market and haven't really gotten any miles on it yet. The HK sound sucks but last fall I didn't really care since the engine sounded great. I'm thinking I'd like to bring it to have the updates done and have the HK recall done. My local dealer that does work on my Ram Sport isn't an SRT dealer but they did the 500 mile oil change for me and did fine with the viper filter and fluids.

So, should I seek out an SRT dealer somewhere in NH or just bring it to my normal dealer?

There are no "SRT specific techs" at any dealer. None of the techs receive any special training for any SRT including the HC. The only exception is the Viper.

So your dealer would be as good as any if he has competent techs..

Ahhhh roger that. I had watched the viper tech training videos and figured the SRT carried over to the rest of the lines. Thanks man.

bring the car for service at the dealer, if you don't like how they treat you or the car then don't go back and let us know so we can steer clear also.

Will do. They've done OK on my truck thus far. The Cat gets treated like a rockstar and the parts counter guys are cool to chat with. When the salt is off the roads here I'll make an appointment to bring it down for the pre-season workover.

Developing a lasting relationship with your dealer is key. Talk to the service manager, the writer and even the tech. If you show natural compassion it will come easier. Bring some pastry or other goodies and take care of your tech. They will work harder and treat your car better than or just like their own!!'

For servicing/maintenance, I always travel 45 miles to a dealer who has a level 3 SRT tech. I was given to understand these are the guys who are entrusted with the vipers/hellcats. Not all dealers have level 3 techs. The service manager at the dealership close to where I live, was not even aware what level 3 stands for...lol.

I am very picky about handing over the car only to a level 3 tech, and willing to go the distance to find one, if need be.

I bring my vehicles to Foss Motors in Exeter. I'd be more than willing to travel 45mins to a "level 3" service center but it doesn't seem like NH has an infrastructure to support it.

Every dealer has at least one tech trained to level 3 in each of 8 categories/skill areas or they wouldn't be able to make some warranty claims in those categories.

That's what i thought as well. However the service writer at the dealer close to where I live, said he did not understand what I meant by level 3 tech. I quickly left that place without arguing with him and drove to the next closest place(45miles away) where I sat down with the service manager and he was fully aware of what I was talking about.

That made me comfortable to get my car there. In fact the manager also told me that no one else but that particular tech was allowed to work on hellcats/vipers.

should have spoken to the service manager at the first dealer. i'm sure he knows his tech's training levels. service advisors, not so much.

Techs have to be certain levels for even diagnosis. Some dealers depending on shop cans spend 20/30,000 a year on training

Yeah you are probably right, I might meet up with the manager out here cause it is quite a hassle to drive 45 miles each way.

Pete you might clarify there is no SRT specific trained "level 3 SRT tech"....just a level 3 tech that can perform most any warranty for any Mopar.....
