I have noticed on all my tires when the car was delivered new have an IX on each one in white crayon. I have seen the same marks on other new Hellcats in pictures here as well. I have yet to clean mine off. Anyone have any idea on reason? Torque or air check maybe?

Also yellow marks on one tire only.

There is a video on Google that may be an extended version of the number one hellcat video but I think that it is another one. You can see the worker at the factory with the machine which tightens five lugs at one. He leave those marks to for qc reasons that they are torqued. I still have my marks on my tires

These are factory markings that a worker marks after qc after he torques the lug its with a machine that does all five at once. There is a video on google that shows the worker doing this

It is called ultimate factories. Dodge Challenger. It is a 45 min video and you will see the worker mark the tires with that same markings

The yellow mark is usually a spot on the tire where it should be matched to the valve stem. It has to do with match mounting the tire to the wheel so heavy sections offset each other.

Those are put on at the tire manufacturer and isn't done by hand with a grease pencil.

Good info. I will have to watch the video again. I missed it I guess. I get a kick out of factory markings. Goes back to my concours style restoration projects. It is a disease. It stays with you.

Ok, I found it. It is not on the long ultimate factories video but the short 8 minute video. The one where the guy is fawning over the yellow challenger. You can see the worker clearly marking tire with IX after putting on lug nuts. Too bad they could not make a new in depth video of just the Hellcat assembly. I know about the number one Hellcat video. I guess they figure the older ones are close enough. A little dated now. They need to open plant for tours as well.

The marking of the tires is at about the 5:.50 mark in the video.

NP. I still enjoy watching it as well as the longer ultimate factories video on the Challenger assembly. Yellow would be cool. They should offer a wider choice of colors making more cars unique.
