I really enjoy using the paddle shifters, especially after the Bondourant course. However I'm so sick of them downshifting when I pull the up shift paddle. They contacted Dodge and they said to update the software and if that doesn't work they will need to pull the valve body to look for debris. It only does it with the paddle shifters not another way so why tear into the tranny?!

They did the software update and on the way home it was still downshifting when I pulled the up shift paddle. So frustrated because I'm sick of taking it to the dealer and just want to enjoy my car not drive it worried that it's going to act up and redline the calm motor.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

Sucks it's truly taking away from the enjoyment of the car. Not that I wanna get rid of it but I may epically if they can't fix it. Maybe they can buy it back and i can get the new one in 2019 when they change the body style.

fnkychkn. If it's getting a different voltage like my mechanic thinks it is how would you go about fixing that? Is it in one of the boards that relay the signal to the tranny? Makes no sense to me to be cracking open the tranny if it doesn't do it when it's in auto or if you use the stick to shift it.

This concern seems to only manìfest itself using the paddles. Since it doesn't happen using the shifter mounted switches, this would pretty much eliminate internal transmission components. I vaguely remember posting about this a while back. I am convinced that this is a voltage drop issue, most likely caused by poor connections at the steering wheel harness.

Same thing, I think, is happening in my 392.

I'll be in 2nd gear and use paddles to try and shift up but then it drops me back to 1st....only notice it on those low gears though.

Sometimes hitting skip button on steering wheel for track playing also goes to previous track instead. Although not sure if that's related to the paddles.

Thanks I have sent my service guys in this direction. How hard is it to swap the paddles out along with the harness? Are they going to be pulling my dash apart? I'm hoping this will fix it. So frustrating!

No need to disassemble instrument panel. Just the steering wheel.

Ok. Is there any case or someone I should point my guys in the direction of? Dodge told them the next step would be cracking into the tranny and I don't want that nor do I think it is warranted.

Also do you know if the paddle shifters and harnesses that are being used now are any different than those a year ago? Seems to me that there are a lot of threads about this but no true fix. Some had the problem fixed with the harness and shifters being swapped but then it would come back. But then others said they have had luck with this as of recently.

Thanks for all you help I am relaying what you have helped me with to my service adviser and mechanic.

There appears to be an extended billet paddle upgrade coming soon from a member in the FB group. You can also pick a color:

Someone asked about the shifting issues and he said its a switch voltage problem but hasn't seen a fix yet. I stopped using my paddles a while ago. Im all shifter now

Ya saw that, seems cool. Pretty sure the consensus is it's a voltage problem. Even my mechanic thinks that's the problem, however there is still no concrete fix 3 years into the build. Hopefully the new paddles and harness will fix it.
