I get a lot of pm questions and I take my time and answer them.
Now I asked who turns a wrench on their hellcats and who has them built now I get some flack. I get paid to fix and make cars fast I'm not knocking anyone. But it comes down to some have tried things and some follow the leader and write a check or use there CC's. to each their own. I guess I can CLAIM the fastest SELF MODDED Hellcat.

Not many wrench turners out there. Lots of folks, especially in the chevy world, that just write checks and pay others to work on their motors.

Not me. I do whatever I can and thats just about everything except for the machining. and Im very proud of it.

Not sure where this is coming from, guess I missed a post but...

I don't look at it as "using my check to build my cars", I look at it as "I don't have the talent or skill required to perform the tasks properly, so I defer to those who make their living doing such things". And there's nothing wrong with that.

I'll do basic things myself (oil changes, etc) but when it comes to doing anything more involved than that, I know I could possibly screw something up. Not only is that a waste of money, but it can be very dangerous, especially when we're talking about the amount of power these cars generate.

I do a lot of my own wrenching since I have a separate garage and a two post lift but I am far from being an automotive tech. A close friend of mine is a certified master tech and shop foreman for the dealership and he helps me out often.

That said I work a lot of hours and don't want to spend all my free time working on the cars. I have a social life and I enjoy doing things with my wife and son so sometimes I just let my friend handle the time consuming work.

He is actually installing the lower pulley and pin kit on my car now. I wouldn't be able to get to it until May if I did it myself and I want it installed before the tracks open next month.

I see no issue with those that don't know which end of a wrench to use. Lot of auto techs would be out of work if everyone that modded their cars did the work themselves.

Yeah, i agree. I don't get the point of this post. Those that make a living as a mechanic OBVIOUSLY will work on their own cars. The rest of us must rely on professionals for those skills.
If your mom needed brain surgery, are you going do it yourself and put down those that pay a brain surgeon to do the work?

Its the claim to fame of having the fastest and writing a check to do it. I take pride in building my own stuff and get knocked by some on here and told your stuff is slow.

I'm not taking it away they still have to drive them. but the ones that think they are better because their bank account is bigger and thats why there car is faster, are wrong when we all die we are in a 6 foot hole or burned

I write the check, but my car is slower because it's a 6m! I respect those that can turn the wrenches. It's just not my speciality.

Who cares if the fastest was built or bought? Fastest is the fastest, period. There is no subcategory for that.

I believe Linda's car holds the record if I'm not mistaken. What's your time? And I do realize there's a difference between "quick" and "fast".

I do as much as possible, but if you don't have the tools or experience, I defer to those who have. Now on the other hand, if your talking about computers, I do all my own work there, and then some....
