Anyone else hear the exhaust cutout opening and closing as they press on the throttle? I just noticed this today as I was coming down the street maybe 10-15 mph, as i give it some gas I hear something squeak as if it's opening, then as i let off the throttle it squeaks again... it's like it needs some WD-40 or something.
Is this really what could be causing the noise? it aligns perfectly to the throttle input.
Have the car back at the dealer today. The didnt fix it last time I guess they thought it was something with the seal around the headlight intake (miscommunication to the tech I think). I recorded a video and sent it to them so I hope it helps them get to the fix.
I dropped my car off yesterday for this issue. They kept all day and threw it in the shop for 30 minutes. Poured water over the belts thinking the squeak was from there. Today they told me to pick it up they couldn't find the issue. Confused I asked "Did you take it for a test drive?" and they replied "Of course." I pick it up and notice not one additional mile on it so i decided to look at the dash cam. Dash cam ran for 30 minutes from the moment they brought it in till they were finished testing.
I went back in and said "You didnt test drive it that's why it wasn't found." She asked me how I know if they didn't test drive it and i said "Dash cam". She pulled service manager and he said "yeah we didnt test drive it, we thought it would just happen at idle if it was a problem".
He threw a tech in the car with me. We replicated it the second we left the lot and they told me they would submit the claim/order parts. Got no paper work for it so i'm calling tomorrow to get an estimate on part delivery. Another user reported they replaced the Cat-Back. Another user reported just the modules. I'm not sure if they are welded in.

Thanks. This is exactly what I am expecting to happen unfortunately. And yes I am looking forward to seeing my dash cam as well
This is also exactly why i sent them a video 4 days ahead of time but of course they didnt see that until I walked in this morning.
Well I got mine back. They couldn't find anything mechanically wrong right now and said they opened a STAR case w/ Chrysler to try and determine the problem.
I guess it's just a matter of time before enough of us have this issue and until there is a TSB or some other fix for it.
I'm calling around 1-2PM EST to ask if they have a date or response for the parts yet. I'll post an update around then. I'm assuming they too opened a STAR Case
By the way, is there a specific STAR case# they found that led them to this decision to replace the cat-back? Other findings or paperwork?
If I can find out concretely why your dealer is doing that replacement for you I should be able to talk to my dealer and get them on the same page.

I assume they opened up a STAR Case themselves. The part arrives early next week and I'll see if they can give me the STAR Case or if the paperwork has it. If your dealer runs into a dead end before then let me know and ill stop at my dealer to get the STAR case number.
What i think your dealer did is they couldn't find anything mechanically wrong except for it squeaking so they just now opened a STAR case regarding it. Chrysler should approve a new exhaust as a response.
Car was picked up around 3 hours ago. Guess they realized swapping cat-backs would only take an hour so they should get it out of the way. First thing i noticed was the drivers tip is out more then the passenger. I hope i'm able to correct it at home. There was no STAR case on the paper so i asked and they said they didn't open a STAR case for it.
Took it home and no squeak but an awful burning/fuel smell in the cabin even with the windows up. Hoping it's just because of the new exhaust and maybe the lube they used burning. Otherwise something wasn't tightened all the way.

yup - i had the same issue. it is a faulty exaust valve. dodge replaced my whole system - cat back. i bet you dont get the squeak in track mode.in track mode the exaust valves are always open, i got the squeak in street and sport when i would release the throttle and the valve would close and caused a squeak. go to your dealership - it is a day long job even though it is all bolt on...
mine is doing the same thing. I thought it was maybe a bypass valve issue. 1200 miles on mine. But...im not even going to try to mess with the dealer on it. If it gets worse ill pull the drive motor off and lube the valve. At least i know what it is now. Thanks internet!
Yep it's almost not worth fighting the dealer to get it swapped out. Drive it in track mode and call it good. It just really pisses me off the few times I have it in street as I'm parking or going through someplace slowly and I'm squeaking like i got a POS car... not what I like to hear after dropping 70k!
Finally! The mechanic was able to replicate the issue and got it recorded on the 'chassis ears', they talked to Chrysler and got the green light for ordering a new exhaust system. I was happy they gave me 4 free oil changes for my inconvenience. At roughly 90$ a pop that's a great make up for this hassle.
My SA told me this is the first STAR case that has been opened regarding this issue, according to him. If I get that info I'll pass it along so hopefully anyone who has this problem can simply reference the case and get it diagnosed and fixed much quicker than multiple trips to the dealer.
True but unless someone actually gets the info and puts it on this forum it may as well be the first one every time. Telling them a dozen people on a forum that had the same problem doesn't mean jack unless we have something we could point to, aka other star cases.
Mine valves could be heard squeaking easily on a remote start. Just hit the switch, wait a couple seconds after startup and it was obvious every single time.
