    Hello,
I'm trying to get a idea of how stiff/hard is the clutch in the new Challenger Hellcat as I would to know, for example comparing it to 2013 Mustang GT stick. I would like to find a dealer that stock a stick Hellcat, seat in there and try it but that is impossible because there isn't any Hellcat in our country only if you order it.
So here is the dilema, buy it stick or auto!? Stick is the way to go in my head and from my customer, however his fear is that the clutch could result too stiff to operate but sf is about the same as a Mustang GT'13 we are fine-perfect forcexample.
Any info or feedback about this is very much appreciated!
    Thanks!!

I don't have my Hellcat yet but I have a 2012 SRT8 392 with the same trans, I also have the GT500 Shelby.
the shifter on the GT500 is shorter throw and has a positive click gear engagement.
the shifter on the 392 is longer but still not bad.
Clutches both not back at all not like the old ones from the 60s and 70s. Not much pressure is needed.
the Dodge lets up higher than the Ford but not much. It seems to take less to get the Ford going than the Dodge. The hill start assist is a bit slow on the Dodge sometimes you have to really give it to get the car going. I turn it off.
Both cars have the same transmission.

Very easy to drive should be no problems but if you are paid on commission based on dollar amount then sell the A8.

I thought the transmission in the HC was new this year for the HC engine?

If it's beefed up, meaning stronger/better internals to handle the increased HP/TQ, how can it be the same?

The only difference between it and the Viper version is that it now has an internal cooler.

The A8's are beefed up with 30% more clutches.

Thanks for your feedback. Your Hellcat thta is in it's way to you, it's stick or auto? I can't remember how heavy the clutch pedal was in the Shelby GT500 that I drove last year, but I guess it was OK because I neevr complained about it.

The buyer is trying to figure out how heavy is the clutch pedal n the Hellcat (He has plenty cars, like a Ford GT Holman & Moody, Ford GT 2013 stock (stick) a Ford GT, couple of Jeep SRT's, Ford Saac MKI (Fox body, and this car has a very stiff heavy clutch which complain about it as well his Cobra Shelby) etc but all in all, these cars mentioned except the Saac and Cobra, has a light /gently operation that doesn't require major effort to operate it.

This could be sometimes a dumb point for some, but for him is important. Like I said we don't have any Challenger stick trans down here, only manuals, and not Hellcat at the moment.

Would be the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 clutch pedal the same as the Ford Mustang GT, i.e. same operation effort neded??

    Thanks!!

It has a hydraulic throw out bearing, easy squeezy compared to the old school mechanical type linkage/throw out.

Don't worry it won't be hard to drive.

I wouldn't get the "new" A8. Not proven!!!
And you have to spend thousands on other automatic transmissions to get them to withstand 700 hp. I give these A8 less than a year before they come back for warranty replacement. Screw automatic transmissions !!!!!!
Stick with the tremec, has been proven over and over again to be able to withstand 800ft/lbs of torque. You can't go wrong with a viper spec. Tremec.

    Lol yup I know.
    You got the A8 huh?
Don't get me wrong, nothing is better than an automatic, if it's built right! There Is a reason why drag racers spend $20,000 on a transmission.

I'm just saying I wouldn't trust the A8 to last very long. Probably a great transmission with modifications.

What are you testing me? Lol

Funny cars actually use some kind of crazy ass 1 speed with multiple clutches that engage as you go down the track. I don't really know jack about that. That's way to rich for me.

I might be late to the party with this, but the clutch is no problem at all. I drove it for a week, even in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic and it was a piece of cake.

I know someone who bought the 8 speed Track Pack Challenger, trading in a Saleen Challenger manual... now she regrets getting the automatic and is trading her Scat Pack in for a manual Hellcat.
