Hello all....new member here. Did a search and could not find my answer.

Has anyone been in a Challenger SRT 392 with active exhaust? Pretty quiet until you get on the gas and the music starts. Now on to my real question....my Challenger HC seems to be loud all the time....at idle, part throttle, cruising. I am still in the break in period so have not opened her up yet (106 miles on the odo). It's like the active exhaust valve stays open all the time. I presume if that were the case, a code would be thrown??

By no means am I complaining....just wondering if anyone else has compared the two and had the same result.

In track mode the flaps are always open.

Take out the mid mufflers like I did, then she will sound like she has 707 Clydesdale horses....

Agree....track mode has the flaps open all the time, however, I have yet to switch out of default.

Mid muffler delete is on the list, but damn she sounds angry as is! I may name her Christine.

I've owned numerous SRT's. The hellcat is my first with active exhaust and yes, it's amazing. I have no plans on changing it or cutting mufflers. Downshifting causes the unusual popping in the ehxaust, it has a nice idle and it rips open when you get on it.

Perfectly happy with stock. Had considered the muff. delete but have heard some low end torque gets lost.

I think it's a Jedi mind trick. Car sounds louder, so, feels like it should be going faster.

Much like it feels like a car has more torque when you put quiet mufflers on it.

The exhaust flaps stay closed at light throttle, so, there's really nothing the mufflers change. They are a straight through design anyway.

It's no problem to keep the mufflers, but loosing torque is just not true.

Stop babying it, drive it like it was meant to be driven. The ONLY thing that changes at 500 miles is the ability to use launch control.

Your engine was run HARD on the engine dyno before they ever put it in your car. WOT for as long as 45 minutes. You won't do anything to hurt it... the rest of us sure haven't.

In track mode on HC the valves aren't always open. If they were one of mine wouldn't be squeaking, which is why my exhaust cat back os being replaced.

The sound I hear (confirmed valve) is reproduced in track mode, at around 45mph, letting off the gas then slowly reapplying happens everytime.

I truly think the 500 mile break-in is more for the owner to get used to all that hp......:D:D:D:D:D:D

The only exhaust system I've had that I would not consider replacing/modifying. Dodge/SRT got it perfect. I have built dozens of one off stainless exhaust systems for high end cars.

No difference in track mode with my car.
I'm calling the white house, maybe they can do something about those valves. the president could make a personal call to SRT demanding a recall valve removal and software fix for every one of us suffering from smothered exhaust notes.
    dang I hate those valves.

There already is a fix. AES valve delete simulator kits. A few members here already have ordered and installed.

I'm glad someone finally posted valves aren't "always" open in track. I was beginning to think something was wrong with mine.
