Wiping the engine down today and i see what looks and feels like a crack in the supercharger. Anyone else had this or any advice.
Is it driveable or should i get it towed to the shop. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I agree with CubeMan, looks like a scratch. At least one forum member would tell you it's worthy of a new motor but I think pretty much everyone else will say you have nothing to worry about.

It looks like a crack to me when I zoomed in on it .
So I would take it in and have it checked out. I would think that you could still drive it as long as you're not getting a code, how many miles do you have on the car?

I sent a email and a pic of my supercharger crack to IHI the manufacturer of the supercharger. My thought as well and everyone on this forum is it was from the casting and no issue.
This is the response I received from IHI.

We appreciate and value your feedback as a customer to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and IHI. If you feel your vehicle has a warrantable defect please contact your dealer so we can insure the best course of action is followed.

I expected that response as I know I must deal with FCA but I wanted IHI to see this pic of what is getting past quality control. It may just be cosmetic but IMO, it is a cosmetic flaw.

All I know is way back when outdoor gas grills were made from cast metal ( not junk China so called stainless as most are made today) cracks like these would NOT have passed a gas grill QC inspection. I kinda expect my $12,000 super charger to look better than my old $100 gas grill and IHI needs to see this. I would send a picture and a note. The email I have is sales@ihi-turbo.com

My guess is cosmetic but these superchargers should have a $12,000 finish, IMO.

Pic of my supercharger crack I posted some time back.

These all look like marks from the casting process

Put a drop of rubbing alcohol on there. If it wicks in, it's a crack. When it's cold .

It doesn't look bad at all, but I would still bring it in just for piece of mind

It's just from casting, nothing to worry about.

Have the dealer service techs look at it for you, but I must side witht he majority here ... looks like a scratch or casting mark, not a full crack. Good Luck and let us know what you find out. :)

Looks like a scratch to me. I would go ahead and take it to a dealership and have them look over it, just to be on the safe side. You never know.
