So yesterday I signed up for a half mile shootout on an airport runway in Florida for late January.

I'm scheduled to get my Hellcat Challenger this month, so even with delays hopefully I'll have it by then. I can't wait blast down a runway in this beast. Any guesses on how fast I will be able to get in 1/2 mile? I've got the A8 transmission and the Pirelli summer tires.

Ramm, there is another thread on this same subject. There, the general thoughts were 147-148, I think that an A8, with a decent launch, will go higher, into the 150's. This, due, to the A8 keeping the engine centered in it's power band better than a 6 speed. We all want to hear the results. Practice your launch, don't blow up in smoke.

Yeah I was thinking about 150. I get to run down the runway all day long. The cars just cycle through the lineup, so I can go down the runway as many times as there is to cycle through all the cars there that day. So I probably will blow my launch at first, but it will give me some good practice. By the end of the day I should be pretty good at it.

152mph was top speed for my Hellcat in the 1/2 mile. The entire event was awesome.

Awesome. My brother in law is an Air Traffic Controller and I asked if he could get me on a runway when I get mine. Perfect.

,Remember, the 1/2 mile is almost the same as the 1he 1/4, you must get a good first 200 feet. If you are slow there, you will be slow at the big end.

I tried to post a video of the race between them and this site wouldn't let me or I'm not doing it correct.

As others have said, nice run. Appears you exceeded the mph predictions people made by about 5mph! Well done!

It was the fastest stock car there, but there were GTR's running 217mph and a Lambo did 233mph.
