Sadly the hellcat driver looks like he could not hook up.

Yeah so rigged. Jalopnik put a head line article saying this hellcat got his arse handed to him when you can clearly see a few things wrong. Jalopnik sucks for inaccurate article description

Horrible drive in the Hellcat. No need for the burn out with those tires, just need a quick "dry hop" then the games at the staging.

The driver is a forum member and posted his story a couple of days ago. He'd never tried launching it before and it was a last minute request by the track announcer. When they went green, his tires wouldn't hook up so he just did a 1/8mi burnout instead. You aren't going to beat a 85D Tesla unless maybe if you have drags on.

Guys , this was all a promotion by the Tesla's driver through his internet companies ! He also owns DragTimes.com ! He called me out over the PA system ! Most of the miles that I have logged in the car have been highway miles. I,ve never even practiced launching the car yet ! I told him that I'm game ,but if I break the tires that I would do a long Hellcat burnout ! He said go for it cool ! I ended up red lighting and breaking traction , hence the long burnout! Of course that didn't get mentioned in any of the articles !

I wish he would not have listened to the track announcer, he wasted a lot of rubber for nothing. It did sound pretty cool

the Hellcat runs low 11's with street tires the Telsa runs high 11's. Why would it be hard to beat a Telsa?

Read what johnnyReindeer wrote. You may not accept it, but that's what he's stating. No practice = bad starts.

Geez, I guess I won't be posting any of my practice races. Tough crowd and just like this guy, I admit to be in the learning phase of my Hellcat. I want to get better and also enjoy my car. If that means I don't always win, well chalk it up to my crappy driving if you want to, but I am not going to give family members a hard time for going out there and trying or having fun.

Any new (to the driver) high output car takes awhile to get the launches down let alone a 707hp car with launch control to boot. I'm sure through my life I have at least 2500 runs in at the dragstrip and I bet it will take a good 40 runs to figure out launches and shift points. As for winning I'd be lucky if it was 1000 of those 2500 1/4's.

Drag racers do not like to loose (any competitive racing for that matter), especially to a Tesla ... just saying. It's all over the place, now on my FB feed
