LOL.. That was a good read.. I don't think he's correct, but there will be a few cases of what he describes

I say, Bah, and Ho-Hum. Look at the site the article is posted on ... Jalopnik, seriously? YAWN. I read the first few lines, saw the web site, and stopped reading. Not worth wasting my time or brain cells.

I read the article and to me, his point is this: Up until recently, you would have needed to buy an exotic car to get the kind of performance you can now find in a ~$65K car (Hellcat). He thinks the owners of these cars for the next 10 - 15 years will be sensible. When these cars are past the 10 - 15 year age range, crazy, stupid people will own them en mass and we will be in a world of hurt when that happens. His rationale is the reason we haven't faced this situation before is because exotics dont ever reach the price point of the truly "stupid" driver, or if they do, there isn't enough supply of cars to go around.

    My thoughts are: "So what?!?"

Cars at any speed or horsepower can cause damage. Crazy, stupid people do crazy, stupid things (using a car or otherwise). I think the author had a quota to meet...

He is spot on for a some of people, but he didn't take in consideration that most people who have boughten a hellcat have some mopar blood running through their vanes and will die holding a red key.

This was my thought as well when I read it... there will be some but for the ones I know who bought or buying personally... this is a bit of a holy grail car - and it will not be sold in their lifetimes.....

LOL... funny read... but I can promise you I'll still have this car well past 10 years. I still own my first car... 72 Duster, which sits next to my 69 440 Six Pack Superbee... which is in front of my Dodge Ram :D Yup Mopar in my blood!;)

I for one hope that there never comes a day when I have to sell the car..I may not drive it allot, but when I do,I really enjoy it, the sound of it starting, the smell of the interior, the feel of the steering wheel in your hands, the looks of the car, the all awesome power it makes, the way it feels when you drive it,, the look from the driver's seat over that huge hood, and it's big shoulders looking out the side view mirror.. I hope there never comes a day when I have to part with it..

Bah - a 60s muscle car with 400+ HP, manual drum brakes, no ABS, ESP, Traction Control, seat belts, air bags, etc, etc was a LOT scarier machine than the Hellcat.

Article is on-point, Most of this forum may move on to newer mopars and let this one go. They will trickle down no matter what. I couldn't care though what the third owner does. If he hits and kills me then i have less to worry about, im dead lol

I can attest to that... Had my 69 Superbee at the track... with drums on the front. Step on the brake at 114 MPH and the car pulls left then back to the right... you really have to apply the brakes gently. Wilwoods are going on the front of that beast. The Cat is a drive in the park compared to the Bee!;)

By the authors description, I think I am more like the 1st, 2nd and 3rd owner all rolled into one. Only I am not rich and I will not sell my Hellcat in a few years.
