We were out messing around this afternoon.
Got called out by a 2,900lb 650rwhp Corvette.
We were making some hits to see where these e/t streets would still hook. At 17psi, and warmed up, I can floor it in 3rd gear at 42mph. Get lots of wheel spin, bounce off the rev limiter once, catch traction, and she's off like a rocket.

So we were gonna meet up tonight to make some pulls (he has a 150shot nos also)

After our 7th 45-140 pull, she let go. Something went wrong under hood. I felt the car lose traction, motor redlined, all acceleration quit, and a huge plume of smoke, inside and outside the car. Thick thick white smoke. Burning oil.

I kicked the car to neutral, water temp 188, oil temp 212, oil press 5-6psi...

5-6 psi... damn!! Gotta find some where to pull over asap!! Went about an 1/8 mile at 80-90mph and found a side street, whipped it in, skidded to a stop, engine still idling with a minor skip. Is it hot? Is it hurt? Can't tell, oil pressure is too low to keep it on. Need to shut it down.

Huge, huge clouds of white smoke followed us. We popped the hood, and the same. Huge white clouds of smoke. Oil burning off the exhaust. Oil dripping from under the car. Mainly on the passenger side of the rear portion of the engine. The sway bar is soaked, my exhaust, soaked.

    Pull the dipstick, nothing showing.
The car continues to bleed it's life blood onto the pavement.

I call for one of my guys to bring the trailer.
We load it up, and still can't see anything.
The damage is above the under car plastics.
We need to remove them to find the source.
It was late, and I have to work early in the morning.
My guys who helped me build the car will start some dissassembly and inspection in the morning.

I'm hoping a blown gasket on the oil filter (maybe we didn't get the old gasket off from the old filter?)
Maybe a blown oil cooler line?
Didn't sound like the engine itself was hurt.
The oil that was left on the dipstick was black, the oil on the floor was black, coolant level was the same.

We will be able to report back midday tomorrow. Are we pulling the motor, or just replacing a line? Guess we will find out.

On a side note, my radio does not read over 750hp.
The dash gauge, we saw 950+ several times. 957hp was the peak we saw.

As long as you didn't bolt on an aftermarket intake, I'm sure it'll be covered under warranty. :D

    Ooooooo:(

Geeze I had a couple of experiences like that a few years ago happen on my modded SRT 8 during a T+T down the 1/4 mile.
I hope yours doesnt turn out with the same problem.
Fingers crossed for you that it's only a lifted head and that you won't be doing a leak down test.
Keep us updated. I think what you are doing is kinda in the R&D levels.
I haven't seen a lot posted about how you were racing on the street.
    Were you Data logging?
    Linda:)

Hopefully it's a blown cooler line as you suggested as some have had this issue in the past. Keep us posted
