Just curious... & I apologize if it seems like a logical question.

    Take the Charger/Challenger line up.

You can get the base v6 model in a few trims as well as a 5.7 Hemi, then you can jump into 392 & the Hellcat.

    Why all the options?
Who do you think the models are gear for (who would purchase what?)

Just giving things some thought & curious to hear others opinions.

My buddies Girl loves the looks but is afraid of power so she has a challenger 100th in v6. Works for her.

A lot of folks buy cars based solely on it's looks. My wife loves the Challenger but she couldn't care less what engine it comes with. Same with my mother who's owned nothing but v-6 Mustangs and Camaros.

I would guess so the consumer has options for there life style/what they can afford.

I first bought a r/t in 2009. At that time I did not see the value in spending the extra $$ for 50hp (6.1 was 425 hp)

Then in 2012 I bought the SRT wit the 392. I figured it was enough of a jump in hp to make it worth it. I did not think they would come out with this beast so I had no plans to sell it. Then they came out with the Hellcat.

I think all the options are a smart decision on Dodges part. They literally have a Challenger for every desire/pocket book.

Yeah when you look at the R/T products in the Dodge line, sure there's a market for it cause they sell... But take the Camaro SS & Musang GT, they have the v6 power plants and their v8s come close to 392 territory.
There's no middle ground so to speak.

When I had my supercharged SRT8, I always told my fiancé she could take it for a ride if she wanted to try it. She always refused because she was scared of the power and hitting something. She was coming from driving a 4 cylinder Mercedes truck. She loves how to Challenger looks, but was intimidated by the power of the 392, even before the SC was added. Since then, I've converted her away from Mercedes and she's now in a Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. She tells me everyday that she is much happier with the Jeep GC, and that she now sees how the Mercedes is overrated. If she didn't drive and have lots of boxes to transport for a living, she'd probably have a V6 Challenger based solely off looks. The Hellcat is a different beast, and she wants no part of getting in the drivers seat of that (which I'm OK with LOL), but she is super excited to get it just as I am. She pretends to like cars simply because she knows I love them, but I think she's getting more into them considering Velocity channel is always on the TV. I think it was very intelligent of Dodge to give all consumers many options. There are a lot of Dodge vehicles on the road because of this, and it just added to the hype of the Hellcat being released.

    Fleet cars.

The latest was that there were more V8 people purchasing lately than V6.

V6? What's that? Oh, you mean what you give your teenager to drive. Yes, they do serve a purpose. Actually, the Pentastar is a good engine. Good gas mileage and dependable. I'm probably getting my daughter a Dart with the 2.0L Tigershark. That's plenty for her!:)

Honestly though I have a buddy that is a real gear head. Builds some screamer drag cars. A couple of years back he bought a V6 Challenger. It was a daily driver, gets good mileage and heck it's still more powerful than the V8s of a few years ago.

Definitely a place for all the different models. It's a nice car.

Agree! If I had a long commute everyday, I would totally be getting a 6 cyl Dodge. They still have some good get up and go and get great gas mileage. Still the ever dependable Dodge and look amazing.:D
