That is pretty scary. Might be the next evolution in cyber terrorism. I will be intimately familiar with my emergency brake. Hopefully they sont get control of that too.

You would have to have unbelievable knowledge of the vehicle and it's systems, like OE Engineer-level stuff, to pull this off. They aren't telling us something, like maybe however hundreds (?) of hours they had the Jeep in-hand to break code.

Don't believe for one second they just hacked in and did that, not that easy.

If there are hackers out there that can get into the system of the car and not be traced, why cant they tune my car and not leave any trace... sorry to change the subject

I've been seeing this and i really think it depends on the car as well. Certain cars yet are more electronic, steering, trans etc. But on cars where it isn't drive by wire they just turn the car. Same think with brakes, trans. If its a mechanical linkage they are only limited so much. On cars that have the 9-speed just rotar dial etc, that is a different situation. I suppose its possible they could get in and play with the throttle, but as for braking, turning etc, they wouldn't be able to do that, not to us anyway

    - side note, just did the update, worked perfect the first try, took about 10 min to load, no issues. I did ignore the d/l program and just downloaded the file directly. I would suggest that to make it more direct and easier

What happened when you put it in the car? I got in, set it to run, let it all boot up, stuck in the thumb drive, it did take a couple mins to load but then it came up with the "would you like to update" page and good to go

If the car is connected to the internet, FCA's Sprint WiFi option, anything can be done, it' all just 1's and 0's, so don't use the I ca WiFi at all.
I'm still wondering what KNOB would allow this to be done while driving an a city street
