Has anyone noticed the front front slinging grease, my tunnel is coated with grease from the front joint.
I did a good job cleaning and prepping for silicone sealant but after 50 miles it appears to have slung plenty of
grease out. Visually there is s nice bead of sealant around the perimiter even and consistant.
The Dss shaft has no provision to keep the grease captive like the oe shaft using a joint sealed with a front cap.
Not knocking the shaft just not sure why i slung the grease and seeing if others have had the same issue.

    Thanks

bump to top for this and subscribed, seems like I read somewhere else that somebody installed a driveshaft that had an opening filled with grease that was unnecessary with this type of joint and it flung out as well for them.

Maybe somebody here can remember where that thread was?

    Exactly.....

What did you attribute your leak to, it was a pretty straight forward install and everything was clean.

    I don't get it.

Pulled it off and had a custom one made , wouldn't run one if it was given to me . Using rtv to seal it off is about the dumbest thing I ever heard !!

I was treated like a moron when i questioned the logic behind a open joint.

That was the second install as well boosted ..... First time did the same thing . Both surfaces was prepped correctly and rtv was used both times . My logic was simple friction and heat will eventually break down whatever you use to seal it off . Some may have better luck but to me it's not worth messing with all summer long .

Just installed mine a couple days ago. Sealed off the grease like DSS said to...hope I don't find grease slung everywhere the next time I rack the car.

We've sold probably 200 DSS driveshaft's for the Hellcats, plus installed several dozen ourselves and I haven't heard of any issues like this to date.

would you mind telling us what the method is? Or sharing some of the instructions? And a photo of the areas in question?
Is the RTV used as a gasket? or is it expected to fill a large hole like a plug??
I don't understand what's happening here, but know I'm going to need the driveshaft, and I've read about this in a couple threads now.

Below is a picture. DSS told me to wipe off the excess then fill the holes with RTV silicone. Not sure why they wouldn't have covered this like the factory shaft but I have always had good luck with them. My other Challenger has their 1400hp half shafts and carbon fiber driveshaft.

I will say this It's not a factory drive shaft its aftermarket! Will not break like the factory that's why we bought them. to add a little RTV is not the end of the world I used the RIGHT STUFF same as I use to seal intakes no problem yet

On my Wiles DS no rtv was needed as it has a rubber boot to keep grease in. I would post the pic but accidentally did a video by mistake. Trying to figure out how to post it.
