I have owned a number of Vipers starting with a 1994 RT/10 up to a 2008 ACR Hard Core Edition, it makes me sad to see this great car head off into the sunset. Any thoughts anyone would care to share on this subject?

It could not meet the up coming safety standards no matter what was done else to the car, other than a complete redesign for a car that has a very small market the bean counters killed it..

I have a 01 GTS and there's nothing like it. Would like to pickup a gen 5 someday but also waiting for the overall mopar future product. I.e. What's next for hellcat and eventual return of viper.

I had an 01 GTS and an 05 Coupe. Really enjoyed the 05 coupe. Was close to ordering a one of one this past January, but bought the HellCat instead. Two totally different cars. I was concerned about getting the Viper serviced and spare parts seem like a real issue so spared myself the hassale and picked up the Cat.

Really enjoying the Hellcat and find myself wanting to drive it a lot more than I ever drove the Viper. But sad it is going away and that it was not as commercially successful as it could have been.

I think the gen 5 could've revived the Viper if it would've had an auto and not been introduced with those ridiculous sticker prices. I used to see tons sitting around with $140k plus price tags. The Corvette makes it impossible for the Viper to survive at those prices.

The way ahead (from a conceptual standpoint) is the direction of the SRT Tomahawk.

Everyone hating on the way they sound.

I personally love the way the V10 sounds. It's unique.

At idle and part throttle I can see how some will not like the sound. But at WOT and 6500 RPM she has a beautiful sound to her.

The Viper's biggest issues can be broken up into three main problems. The first problem is that it was not available in an automatic. Nobody these days knows how to drive a stick shift. Obviously if FCA wanted to sell more Vipers they would of engineered an automatic. Secondly the dealers were a total pain when it came to driving a Viper. In my experience if I wanted to test drive a Viper I would have to jump through massive hoops. On the other side of the coin I can drive to my nearest Chevy dealer and test drive almost any Corvette, no questions asked. The final problem of the Viper is that it didn't have an affordable entry level trim. The cheapest Viper I could find on Autotrader in my area was a 2016 for $98,528. In comparison to a Corvette which I can pick up for $49,995 at Bob Stall Chevrolet.

Obviously I love the Viper. It is a very special vehicle and I hate to see it go. However, it is very hard to justify building and attempting to sell a car that nobody wants to buy.

Its a shame they are killing a car that is currently setting records and can basically only be beat by cars that are over a Mil. I will have a 2016ACR some day, that is for certain!
